Knight is too old. The players have passed him. The game has. He's be a PR nightmare. He doesnt have the will or the longevity to stay with a program. He would bring ZERO enthusiasm to that fanbase. They want a guy who is hungry that they can call their own or make their own. I look for Travis Ford, Anthony Grant, or a longshot, Billy Donovan to get that job. Thats IF this thing really goes down. I see Clyde getting one more crack at it though.

Ohh OK fair point, I personally think he could recruit really well
Not this day in age, I dont see a 18 year old kid who is most likely to be one and done or two and done going to a physical, in your face, his way or the highway, militaristic type coach.
I have no clue who UK is going after my only thought is that if they dont have someone "big" on the waiting they wont get rid of Billy G

I don't think Calipari's going anywhere. He's in the catbird seat at Memphis. No legitimate conference foes. Great facilities and institutional support. Rabid fan base with nothing else to cheer for (football, baseball, etc.) Plus, he's just flaky enough to really enjoy being the big man in a little pond. Sure, Memphis got shafted in the seedings this year, but as someone said above, he has an absolutely sick recruiting class coming in. Finally, let's not forget that he has something to prove at Memphis. His guys were thisclose to winning it all last year. Without an unbelievable comeback by Kansas, Calipari has his title. Had they won last year, I think Kentucky would stand a much better chance of landing him.

Travis Ford
I like this pick, b/c he is on the rise, has improved teams like Eastern Kentucky, took the to their first tournament appearance since 1979, took UMass to two NIT appearance including the 2007 NIT Finals, and took Oklahoma State to the NCAAs in his first year. Plus he is was raised in Kentucky, and understands the fan base, which I think Billy G. considerably underestimated. So I think that would be a perfect fit for Kentucky. Good find man

If the money is right, then Cal will go. But I think that figure would have to be very high number because of the class he has coming to Memphis.

bomber77 ???? Seriously
For watching Roundball for 40 yrs u should know his career pretty well..His first head coaching job was at Boston U where he lead them to their 1st tournament appearance in 24yrs...Then he took over a 11-20 Providence team and 2yrs lata he lead them to a Final Four (he's definetly been successful in places other than Kentucky and Louisville)
He then took over Kentucky(a historic college program)with major sanctions on them because of recruiting violations left by Eddie Sutton and quickly restored Kentucky reputation..He also won one Natl Champ in 1996 and was an overtime away from capturing a back to back championship
He also has done an outstanding job at Louisville(one final four)..Had he stayed in college the whole time he would most likely be in the conversation with Coach K on who is the best active Coach (and this is hard for me to say because i am a huge duke fan)

He has been there, what about 7-8 years. He has great talent there. He is a way better recruiter than a coach. The real test as a coach to me is playing with equal talent. He fails miserably here.
Louisville also had a pretty good basketball program for years before he showed up.

Ive been playing and watching roundball for 40 years now so i guess im at least entitled to an opinion. Pitino has been coaching for over 30 years now and has ONE championship. The media has made him into some kind of big celebrity and you are one of many who has swallowed it.

Too much FedEx money for Calipari to leave Memphis. He was offered a lot when Arkansas tried to get him a couple of years back and he refused.

I have to agree with you for the moment. If they are posting this off of Seth Davis' comments in SI yesterday, you can't conclude that he has in fact been fired. Seth merely says it looks like it will happen and the states "the silence from the AD is deafening" like that implies he's going to fire him. Seth is taking some liberty here I have to say.

Pitino is the Steve Spurrier of basketball coaches. They are great as long as they have better talent. Put them in a place where all the talent is good and they suck
Simply retarded. He has taken Providence, Kentucky, and Louisville to the Final Four.
You talk about only 1 title, but Dean Smith only has 2. Basically, you know nothing.
