Ol' Roy had his share of those at KU.

I think it's the schools, more than the coaches. Some schools just seem to have that thing.

Self is the king of losing to lower seeds.

Kentucky lost to a higher seeded team.

I think Calipari is actually pretty good in the Elite 8.

Self is 2-5 in elite 8 games.

In the last 13 years kU has been on average a 1.8 seed and only has two final four appearances.

Self gets out coached I feel. I don't think cal does as often.

Big difference is that Self usually has a stable of upperclassmen that should be groomed to be able to advance. Cal has freshmen that I felt were coming up huge in the stretch to close the UNC game, but had some moments where they couldn't generate points off a lead.
