Bill O Brien had an impressive game plan in the Sugar Bowl

He called a great game and Bryce did a fantastic job of making the plays BoB called.
BoB’s playcalling really gave Bryce a chance to earn that Sugar Bowl MVP, which he totally deserved.
Looks like Bill O has figured things out and has turned things around.
I fully expect to see him back in Tuscaloosa next season.

Which would be perfectly fine, so long as The Man gets his head back in the game again.
Here's a concept Alabama fans struggle with. The bookends aren't the problem. Saban has won Championships with less on the sidelines and in the booth.
The problem is Saban himself, his insurance commercials, car dealerships and hotel ventures.
When he eliminates the "clutter" he's preached against for over a decade, then so will his team.

Unfortunately for you, Garrett Riley will be oc next year.

Yep. I mean Saban usually waits this long to move on from assistants.

Jimbo Fisher.
Doug Nussmeier.
Jim McElwain.
All three of those guys are worse than BoB and a championship was won with all three.
Golding ran the defense in 2020 when Alabama had the greatest team in the history of the conference and won a championship as well.
Two of the worst defensive showings Alabama has had in the playoff came in 2014 under Kirby Smart and 2015 under Kirby Smart. The very next year, Jeremy's defense gave up over 90 plays to Clemson, in a loss that when Hurts left the field, Alabama had in the bag.
Saban has won with either worse showings or worse coordinators. When his head is in the game, so is everyone else's. Saban's head is not in the game.

This is na interesting take that I think gets overlooked sometimes.
People always talk about keeping the players heads in the game and not taking their opponents for granted, etc. But it has to be just as hard for the coaches sometimes. They begin to rely on the natural talent of the players to pull games out and maybe not prepare game plans and watching film as much?
Just spitballing.

Alabama entered the season with the very best roster in the country and seemingly inexplicably, performed in a lacsidasical manner that had the entire fanbase scratching its head, wondering what the frick is going on.
And then we see one insurance commercial after another. And then we hear about appearances at car dealerships. And then after that, we hear about Tuscaloosa hotel ventures.
And then all of Alabama's problems come squarely into focus.
When Nick Saban is in everyone's face and not giving a shite about it. Alabama wins and wins big. We've seen it with McCarron, Kiffin, Smart, Pruitt, Daboll and a shite load of others. When Saban was actually the dick people believe he is. Alabama won. That's no coincidence.

I heard that BoB was in the shitter from last minute of the 1st half until about 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter. Bryce was OC'ing that mf during that time.

2009. GMAC wasn't half the QB Bryce is. Granted Julio was light years better than any WR Bama had in 2022 and defense was better.

Coordinators at Bama are just fine. The players failed to execute on the field this year. But to their credit they still ended up 11-2 in a season where they could have finished 8-5 or 9-4 or 10-3 or 12-1 or 12-2 or 13-2 or 13-1 or 14-1 or 15-0.

Would have liked to see what Bama could have done vs Georgia in the SEC Title game but LSUs limp dick team got there instead

Saban never fires assistants and his contract ends later this month.
