Big ten is just going to sit and wait while the sec and acc trudge on ahead with a season that they aren’t really prepared for and that will inevitably get canceled a few games in if it even gets that far

The big ten will learn from the mistakes of the southerners, start up football in late December or January. Michigan wins the conference and harbaugh finally claims his national title

Tell me I’m lying

I’d love to see Big 10 schools trot out their teams on the frozen tundra of Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, etc. for the first game of the season. Seems much safer for the players.

I mean if the fall season gets cancelled within a few games they’ll just attempt to move to the spring....

The whole problem with the big tens position is they didn’t even try. No one is guaranteeing the protocols and plans to play in the fall will work. There’s a lot of unknown factors. But you won’t know until you try. Until covid is completely eliminated, which will likely be years, every season will carry some element of risk

Yeah, forcing athletes to play 20+ games in 9 months shows an overwhelming concern for the health of the players.

Agree. BIG’s failure to ‘try” and throw in the towel so early is what will be seen as their biggest sin.

If the P3 can pull this off, the hard core BIG fan base will mutiny against the Powers That Be.

If they do play in the spring it’ll just be a few games. Basically just some rivalries to stay relevant.

Plus, they would start immediately following the climax of CFB Playoffs. Sorta lIke tuning in for an XFL game the week after the Super Bowl.

Spring ball is unlikely. There is no particular reason to think things will be significantly different in the spring than they are now, and it may be worse. If there is a vaccine by the end of the year, it still will not likely be available in quantities that would allow football. The vaccine will go first to health care workers and high risk folks, and that would be unlikely to include athletes. It may be more toward next summer before the vaccine is widely available to the general population, if not later. And we will not even know how effective the vaccine actually is for a while after it is available. Flu season will be in full swing in the early part of next year, which will not make matters easier as to COVID. If colleges don’t play in the fall, they are not likely to play in the spring either.

Wisconsin vs Michigan in January in Madison. Wind chill in the negative teens, field cleared of 18 inches of snow just before game time, field frozen solid and slicker than owl shite. Yeah, they have the player's best interests at heart.

The minute the first game is played, that will be the start of the season. If the SEC plays one game and has to pull the plug, that will be it until fall of 2021. No way they have two seasons.
