Sec is top heavy
The bottom teams are really bad
Bama and Tenn seem to be elite
Ark and uk have been disappointing with high preseason accolades

It was a good barometer
Sec has work to do
You have another month to close that gap

Big12 has produced the last 2 national champions in MBB. We already knew their best teams were better than our best teams.

They are definitely better than that dump Alabama laid on the court

Yeah, but if you had to choose, would you rather be good at football or basketball?

Oklahoma lost by 20 something to TCU, Alabama has beaten Miss State twice, Miss State beat TCU, Alabama gets blown out by Oklahoma. Basketball can be a weird sport.

Just curious, how long ago were these teams chosen as match-ups?

Who decides which 10 from SEC?

I know there is no way of predicting match-ups
months or even weeks before the games:

Of 9 ranked teams, only Texas & Tenn played each other.

#1 (SEC) Alabama v. #9 (B12) OU
#1 (B12) K. State v. #6 (SEC) Florida

It’s based on last years record I believe.

How did their best (highest ranked) team do?

I don't think anybody is saying that per se. Re-read the OP. It's basically how each conference has been in basketball for the past 5 seasons.

It's also one saturday. Alabama is probably a better team than OU all things considered. Same with Auburn and West Virginia or Miss State and TCU. The reality is, this is just one game in a 30+ game season, and they're not played on neutral floors.

I agree, but as a huge college basketball fan, there is really no argument for the sec being better. I have nothing against the sec but they need to step it up.

Worry about your own house, we'll worry about ours.

Well, to be fair, they did win this competition each of the last two seasons even though the Big 12 was also seen as the superior conference going into those weekends as well.

So it seems like they have stepped it up. If the squads from these SEC teams in 2017 lined up against the squads from the Big 12 in 2023, it would've been a bloodbath. The SEC as a whole has improved its basketball brand tremendously in the past several years thanks to commitment to support and finding good head coaching talent.

I worry about all the houses because I love watching all the different conferences.
