Big 12 Realignment
Big 12 not happy with the the big boys.
Big 12 not happy with the the big boys.

The Big 12 is operating under the assumption that both the Longhorns and Sooners will stay in the league four more years. The current Big 12 television contract with Fox and ESPN ends in 2025. If not, both schools would be subject to what have been projected as nine-figure early exit fees for breaking the Big 12 grant of rights that bind schools' TV inventory to the conference.

The Big 12 is engaged in plans to split into two seven-team divisions in football beginning in 2023 to temporarily restructure as a 14-team league as the realignment process unfolds, league sources tell CBS Sports.

One working group member joked that Texas and Oklahoma should be placed in the same division to ensure that at least one of the programs wouldn't play for the football championship.

I don't think that will be a problem any time soon

Good. I don’t want to lose our annual win.

There's still plenty of time to trade Aggy for Baylor.

I'm good with neither team ever joining the SEC. They can have Missouri back too.

How?
Y'all are leaving. And either you stay through the end of the GOR, or you give the conference a mountain of cash.
So how exactly is this going to come back to bite the Big 12?

I wonder what their jokes will be after 2025 when their TV revenue is cut in half..

We get it: you're still very upset about us joining.
I'm sure it aches you that there's plenty of kicking and screaming from the Big 12 about Texas and OU leaving, but when A&M left, they couldn't have ushered you out the door faster

Oh well, looks like TX plays Bama next season and we have Georgia in 23 in out of conference schedules. Games be a good litmus test to see how much we need to improve before the realignment.

But I'll give Baylor some credit - they have actually elevated their athletic department and even won a national championship in a men's major sport (which is something A&M has failed to ever achieve in in any of the 3 sports; hell they haven't even made a semifinal)

I mean I realize it was probably all talk, but I sort of figured that the schools were operating under atleast this plausible assumption anyway.
And frankly, conference scheduling for a couple of seasons? Heck, one of the reasons why we're supposedly leaving is because of the crappy scheduling. Was their adding BYU, Cinci, Houston, and UCF going to change that? I don't think so....
I guess I just don't see how it's 'sticking it to us'. They will be lucky to be considered P5 in five years, and we'll be in the even more potent SEC. Oh no!

Sounds like you are still a little upset we left TEN YEARS AGO!!! It sure pissed off DeLoss Dodds. I know he is still mad about it.
I am looking forward to having Chokelahoma and their little sister 'sip in the SEC. Especially if you keep playing at your current level.

Every conference does this to teams who leave. Their last year there is usually bad. Penalties don't go their way or they don't get penalties called against them. The fans of the other teams are extra brutal on road games. Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and A&M all experienced it when they left the Big 12. Y'all just made the problem worse by announcing your exit 3 or 4 years early. Your last seasons in the Big 12 will not be much fun.
