Didn't he play for Miami in 1992? I remember that name from the championship game.
Yeah. He spent most of the game on his arse.
Dude is still built like a football player though. We will dominate the "which SEC coach would win in a fight" threads this summer.

I don't know which hire is better but we are comparing an offensive coordinator hire and a position coach hire, which seems odd.
Cristobal has a good track record as an oline coach and he is supposed to be a very good recruiter with great South Florida ties. So, I am very happy with the hire. Not sure how it compares to LSU's offensive coordinator hire though.

Agreed. Both solid hires in their own respect. But weird/irrelevant to compare the two.

Cristobal is almost purely a recruiting hire. I think it is a solid hire but am not sure it is that great.
He has 2 years of experience as the offensive line coach. 1 at Rutgers and 1 at Miami in 2006. I think he has a year or 2 as a TE coach as well.
He is a great recruiter in South Fl, but Saban is still pretty hated down here, so have to wait and see if Cristobal can change that. As far as I can remember, I do not think bama has gotten a single guy out of Dade county since he has been at bama.

Yep. Forgot about him. So 1 guy from Dade?
What about Broward?
If anyone can get bama in the game down here, it is Cristobal. He is loved here.
Saban is still hated though, so have to wait and see.

No high school coach or player cares about Saban's breakup with the Dolphins
Only 2 people in Miami that care are Don Shula's grumpy arse and Wayne Huizenga because the hires after made the team value drop.

Also Ed Stinson is from Dade county, Homestead, FL

1 from Miami, 1 from Orlando, 1 from Tampa. Not sure how much better we could expect to do there.
I think the Dolphins winning the Super Bowl would do more for people getting over Saban than any particular hire we could make.

I'm sure the 18 and 17 year old dont hate Saban.
The older and more diehard Miami fan sure. But those kids were how old when Saban left the Dolphins?

Discuss.
Won't know for a while but if LSU's Total O winds up ranked in the 80's again I'd say things didn't go as planned.

Who LSU hires is irrelevant to most Bama fans. They are not some golden standard that we compare our hires to. Considering Cam is an OC and Mario will be an OL coach pretty much makes this a useless thread anyway. Nice of you to get the flamers from LSU and Bama out in full force though. Shame on you bro.

This is simply wrong. A lot of HS coaches here do not like Saban. Some will not even let him talk to their players when they can prevent it.
A LOT of people here can't stand Saban. All the talk radio guys here still bash him and people call in every time he is mentioned here (which isn't very often to hate on him).
Joe Rose has an am morning show and he has mentioned several times how many HS coaches here do not want saban near their school. And Rose is the biggest recruiting fanatic on the air anywhere in South Florida.

Bama could do better if not for the Saban hate. A LOT better. Dade and Broward County lead the nation in D1 recruits and have more NFL players than any other two counties in the entire country.
And most of them are not signing with Miami and are going all over the country.
Bama would get a lot more if not for the animosity towards saban of the HS coaches and populace here. And yes, it is significant still. It will stay strong as well until the Fins are good again.
