Chaney single handily lost us the LSU game last year by abandoning the run and fricked up several possessions inside our opponents 2 yard line.

He is a fricking moron.

Chaney actually made the offense worse at his last 3 stops at Arkansas, Pitt, and UGa, and that was hard to do at UGa with juniors Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Fromm deserves the credit for UGa being better offensively. I would put Chaney damn near the bottom of coordinators.

Tennessee had a marked improvement in 2009 when Chaney was hired, but I give that credit to Kiffin.

Chaney and the OL coach were rocking the freaking P-I-G-S early on when the numbskull from Wisky took them over. Those fat boys were evil then and still the James Dandy's moving the football AND THE CLOCK @ PiggyLand and Muttville both. Pruitt is a defensive coach and having a big time, no nonsense believer in the run game setting up the pass and keeping defenses on their heels will be a boost for Rocky Top. It will help his D. He ain't there. But he's gaining on it. Needs players as good as the coaching.

As a bama fan, I will say this. Our success is built around THE elite players in the nation. It's hard to gauge what another staff would do... and it makes comparisons hard. SO remove us and insert another.

SEC Offense Co... I'm going with Mullen for now. What he did with lower talent at MS St was great.

SEC Defense Co... That's Bob Shoop. He's going to prove it again this season.

Best coach in the South: I like Bill. He's done a great job!

If's and but's...candy and nuts. He was working early on with other folks' hands and a freshman QB who he helped make a star of. And something less than prime beef on the OL. Yet he made folks pay between the twenties. Which not many can do. Unfortunately you run out of room and down close and you can't be creative so you have to bow up. Which they were not that good at early on. But most of us 50 yard line experts don't wanna hear that. It takes a while to recruit the hogs and then a while longer to teach them.

JMO and Chaney sure doesn't need my approval. He's been pretty well employed and making damn sure big money so he has others fooled too I guess. He may be a horse's arse though since he moves a lot.

Good post IMO. Saban is never happy with what he has which is a strength, he's always trying to improve. But I think he sorta panicked following 2017 when Kirby brought in the best class in the history of the sport on paper. And Bama struggled compared to what they had done. Some of the strong coaches left and took players we wanted and so forth so he brought in a bunch of young boy, road runner recruiters. And promptly ran some off after last season since the coaching suffered and went back to old school fundamental guys again. My post is based on a guess which is what us do for fun. But the D staff looks good on paper. Sunseri, Kelly, Golding and the State guy. Mullen is the head coach @ UF.

Actually, one thing I do know about Chaney is that everyone in Knoxville (on campus anyway), including the players absolutely loved him and couldn't say enough nice things about him when he did leave.

This will be Chaney's 3rd HC in Knoxville.

Actually picked up a Qt of Tito's this AM. But we are hosting a surprise 90th for an old gal at our church (yeah there's hope still out there for me). So although I drink a beer along (one of this craft crap) I basically don't drink a-tall. But I'll likely have a nip or two of that Tito's tomorrow. My delivery doc bud is coming by and he is the world expert on cigars. So I'll likely fall off the no smoking ladder big time instead of drinking a lot. He's got some major league goodun's. Nothing like lighting 'em up and talking big!

When did Chaney make adjustments?

I can already tell that this is a hopeless venture.
2017 against Kentucky, we went hurry up late in the 2nd (also began throwing on first down) and scored 21 points in about 10 minutes.

There are several other examples where we changed gameplans (started the game run heavy and then adjusted to a more balanced pass offense on first down. Or the Oklahoma game where we started with the more balanced first down approach but then adjusted to a more run heavy approach on first down).

If you don't pay attention to what is happening, I'm sorry. That's on you. Not me.

Games where adjustments didn't matter were Bama (2 years in a row). Both games, we struggled on the offensive line. Particularly right guard. You can claim our freshmen as future NFLers, but I promise you that they all don't start out that way (especially against Hand and Williams).

Well Kirby thought he was so good he didn’t counter UT’s offer

Highest paid OC in the conference (one of the highest in the country).

Is that your point?

You do know that lots of OCs can make adjustments. You don't have to be the highest paid OC to be qualified to make in game adjustments.

Kirby hired Chaney for good reason. Kirby didn't go into a bid war for Chaney (when the starting bid was the highest in the conference) for good reason.

You’re correct. Avoided a bidding war by putting in no bid at all

Think Kirby would bid war with UT over the Pit boss? I do

The offer by Tennessee was stupid. I wouldn't counter-offer. From what I understand, Chaney was a little put off by our lack of effort. But we were being nice if we didn't laugh in his face.

I think Pittman has gotten raises each of the last 2 seasons. An offer from Tennessee/Chaney may not have been made public.
