Georgia 2019 Defense.... before the LSU game

LSU 2003 and Florida 2008 should be in the conversation too

Id like to throw 2018 MSU in the hat. We may have only won 8 games but the defense was stout and had 3 first round picks.

2008 Auburn or Miss State.

2016 Alabama had the best defense that’s ever seen a college football field.

I'm partial to '92. They could get after the QB better than '09 or '11.
If that '16 team has any other Saban-era QB they sleepwalk to a title.

Bama’s ‘92 defense is the best I’ve seen…

1. 1961 Bama. Allowed 2.2 ppg and 132 ypg. Five consecutive shutouts to end the regular season.
2. 1992 Bama. Season avg 9 ppg and 192 ypg. Stallings and Oliver were genius vs Miami in the championship game. Toretta never knew what hit him.
3. 2011 Bama . I don’t think we’ll ever see a defense give up only 8 ppg again. Shoutout to LSU. The two best defenses in the country that year. Even in the CG loss, LSU only gave up one TD after the game was already won.

Some of those old teams way back then were tough. Ole Miss's 1959 team gave up 14 pts (2 TD's) all season. The 7 pts LSU scored was on special teams (screw you Billy Cannon!). They had 8 shutouts (9 if you count the LSU game and just focus on the Defense).

I wasn’t around in ‘61 so I have to say that ‘92 defense is the best I have ever seen. There was never just person making a tackle it seemed like they had 15 people on the field.
Even though I hate Bama like the plague it did my heart good to see the fear in those Miami thug’s eyes when Oliver started dialing his crazy shite up on the first snap and never letting up.
I don’t think any college team I’ve seen could have beaten that defense giving Bill Oliver a month to prepare.

Real men don’t play zone. At least that’s how Miami wide receiver Lamar Thomas has it figured.Thomas looks at Alabama cornerbacks Antonio Langham and George Teague and sees nothing that scares him.
“I don’t really consider their corners two of the best in the nation, because it’s their defensive line that makes them so good,” Thomas said Wednesday. “Their corners never come out of zone coverage, so they’re not good cover men. I don’t think they’re great corners; they’re OK corners. I think they should get out of their zone and be real men.”
On several occasions Oliver lined all 11 men on the line of scrimagge and played man coverage.

I thought the '92' BAMA defense had an incredible lineup of DBs and Safeties. And we could get great pressure on the QBs. And against Miami's potent passing offense and Heisman QB, we were the perfect mismatch for them.
Not sure any BAMA defense had a better or deeper front seven than the '16' defense though. The "NOTs" (Non-Offensive TDS) that the defense produced that year were historical.

2004 Auburn gave up 1 Rushing TD all season, and had the Thorpe award winner for best DB. Thats my pick...

fricking joe moorehead squandered that defense. Was the best modern defense I have ever seen at state. We shut down damn near everyone. If we had a hint of offense that year we go 10-2 fairly easily and if Mullen had stayed one more year who knows what we could’ve done.

LSU 03 was a better Defense than 2011 and should be a contender for the top spot. I’d still say Bama 92 is #1 with LSU 03 #2

2015 Missouri had probably the best defense in school history. A lot of scoring happened because the offense couldn’t move the football and the defense would give in eventually. Not saying it’s on par with those mentioned just sad Missouri noises to have such an abysmal offense with such a good defense.
