I enjoy some summer time reading. If I’m lucky it’s not 90+ degrees outside and I can enjoy some cut grass with a beer as well. Anyway...I’ve read many SEC books, wondering what else is out there.

This is what I have read.

LSU:
It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium - Bradley
Taking Charge: The Curley Hellman Story
Tiger in a Lion’s Den - Dale Brown
Don’t Count Me Out - Dale Brown

Other Schools:
Top Dawg - Suggs
On Rocky Top - Travis
In the Arena - Pat Dye
Fourth Down and Life to Go - Tony Franklin
The Perfect Pass - Gwynne
The Winning Edge - Cliff Ellis
The Junction Boys - Dent (I’ll allow this for our Ags and Bear Bryant)

I’m probably forgetting some. What are some y’all have read and are high on?

Not SEC per se, but Horns, Hogs, and Nixon Coming by Frei is good. Details all the stories leading up to the 69 Big Shootout game between Ark and Texas.

this guy has been a poster on the uga rivals site for about 20 years now. I've read the book and it's good but I doubt it'd be too interesting for a casual fan, since it's all about Richt and his tenure from 01-07ish. Great read for UGA folks since that was a good time period though.

If you like humor, read Fourth and Long Gone by Pepper Rodgers. It’s a fictional book based on real events. It has two schools (East Alabama University and West Alabama State) that resemble Auburn and Alabama including Pat Dye and Bear Bryant. It’s based on the recruitment of a player named Eearnel Simpson who is based on Hershel Walker. It was written in the 80’s and really exposes the recruiting of that era.

Why would it need to be “allowed?”
It’s a book about Texas A&M football summer training camp?

This sounds like a great book. They make it into a movie?

They did. It was on the Lifetime Movie Channel.

"Meat Market" by Bruce Feldman, in which he's embedded with Coach O during a recruiting cycle at Ole Miss.

It's a breezy read that you can finish in about 2 days, but has tons of good behind the scenes anecdotes for recruiting junkies.

There's a touch of tragedy when reading today, since the late Joe McKnight is a prominently featured subject.

Because it was pre-SEC days for Bryant and the Aggies. Why do you need to make this an issue?

The Hundred Year Decision by Loftin
Is a good read on the machinations of how A&M came into the SEC. it’s a good window on how realignment was running if you’re into that sort of thing.
