Lost all credibility when you complained about the location of the sec offices.

For BBQ? I like to take out of towners to one of the Saw's locations. There's 3 Saw's and each has a different theme and menu.
Saw's BBQ in Homewood is the more traditional BBQ place.
Saw's Juke Joint in Crestline has the fun atmosphere and music. They also have a bigger menu that includes burgers and bar food type stuff.
Saw's Soul Kitchen in Avondale is my personal favorite and my recommendation. It is what it sounds like, soul food. Real soul food and great BBQ.
This is my favorite meal from Saw's Soul Kitchen. Grits, greens, pulled pork, and onion rings. All piled up
Bob Syke's in Bessemer is another BBQ recommendation. They are very well known.

I’d put Republic and Christopher’s in college station vs a lot of the top restaurants. Not trying to internet brag but I’ve been lucky enough to travel and goto some pretty ridiculous eateries.

Also, wait, when did people in Alabama care what liberal elites think about them and their food?! James Beard was gay. I wonder if y'all wanna give that award back now...
Well the restaurant is in Birmingham which is about as blue as anywhere in the south gets. They don't call Birmingham "The Portland of the South" for nothing.

Acme was your first mistake. But you were so close. Felix’s across the street is much better.
Agree.

Coach Bryant knew football but anybody who goes to Archibald's and then goes to Dreamland knows there ain't no comparison.

Kudos to bham for trying to change the image there. (I genuinely mean that.) Nobody outside of Birmingham says that about Birmingham, though. I guess you gotta start somewhere...
Meanwhile, New Orleans is the New Orleans of the World.

This is a post I could get with. Think we should all name a place in SEC country and revisit this thread in 1 year. :)

Come try Cajun country.
The most overrated part of the Louisiana food scene
Not saying it's not good, bc it is. Love me a proper crawfish boil.
But to be overrated is relative, and Cajun food is overrated compared to how highly y'all talk about it.

I don’t speak highly of it at all. But since you brought it up, how is it over-rated, since you said it’s good. BTW booking crawfish is a no brained and plenty of people screw that up

You've never heard that before? I promise I didn't make that up. It's real.

I believe some professor from BSC said that Birmingham "could" become the Portland of the South or something like that.
Portland is 90% white, collectivist and has handed off policing duties to ANTIFA. Birmingham is 65% black and the "liberals" are mostly Doug Jones type old school republicans (fine by me, by the way) or old southern black Democrats (also fine).
There isn't a single neighborhood in the city limits of Birmingham as staunchly leftist and crunchy granola as Decatur or Grant Park in Atlanta, led alone the Soviet Republic of Portland.

Bodhi in Lexington SC hands down
Yep, we eat there once a week or so. If you like gourmet fine dining Thai style it's definitely one of the best you'll find anywhere. They do not cut corners.
Their in the old Lexington State Bank. I remember when that building was built ... it's a neat location.
We've got quite a few excellent restaurants in Lexington and Columbia. We hit the new Chop House in Columbia tonight and it was outstanding. A few local celebs were in there including some football related ... hoping it works out on signing day.

I live in Birmingham. Highland’s is a classy place with excellent food and bar, been many times. But hell, there are so many unknown restaurants all over the South with great food. Most of them people on this board never heard of.
Best steak I’ve ever had was at Tin Top in Bon Secour, AL. Best soul food/meat&3: Dot’s in Lawrence County AL. Highland’s-type lovers would call it a dump, but you can’t find a parking place at lunch time, from the utility workers’ trucks and Decatur lawyers’ cars lined up down the road.
