Based on those criteria (college + pro success), QB has to be Joe Montana. Only 5 QBs have won NC + Super Bowl, and only two started for both (e.g., Brady was the backup for Michigan in 1997, Bernie Kosar was the backup for the Dallas Cowboys). Those two players are Montana and Ken Stabler. Of the two, Montana is the obvious choice, as he won 4 Super Bowls and was broadly considered the best QB in the league during his prime.

Define success.
Joe Namath won national championships and a super bowl. Kenny Stabler did as well. Greats, sure, but would you rate either as the best QB of all time?
Do you mean individual accolades? Peyton Manning comes to mind as a player who had a great run in both, but no Heisman trophies and no national championships.
RB, probably Barry Sanders. He put up absurd numbers at both levels.
WR... Jerry Rice would come to mind, but if memory serves he actually played college at a community college or DII, but his career in the pros would be hard to overcome.

Peyton
Sanders
Moss?
Only real question is if you knock Moss for playing at Marshall?
You could make a good argument for Julio Jones but he really was underutilized at Bama for how good he is.

I’d go Peyton, Barry Sanders, and Jerry Rice if we are taking college and pro into account
Just college: Cam, Herschel, Randy Moss
Just pro: Brady, Jim Brown, Jerry Rice

I'm just saying, AJ McCarron is probably one of, if not the, most "successful" college QBs of all time. As much I liked him at Alabama, I wouldn't consider him the "best" QB of all time there. Hence why I was trying to get some clarification.

Success in a team sport doesn't necessarily mean best. Dan Marino was one of the greatest QB's of all time, but he played for teams in both college and the NFL that weren't very great.

If they weren't having to play against Dick Butkus in the NFL, should we even consider them?
What I mean by that is the game sure has changed over the years. Having to go up against guys like that should count for something right? As a WR for example, going over the middle these days is meh. But doing it back in those days was not for the light hearted and maybe borderline suicide.
I'm not sure how you can really compare the eras. Is Bart Starr the best QB ever due to when he played? Could many modern day QBs really hack it in that league?
Don Hudson created the modern WR basically, and many of the routes he created are still used today. I think even though he played back in the 30s, he still holds the record for most average TDs per game for a WR. Do you give him credit for that, or do you dock him for having an advantage since defenses had to invent ways to stop him?

Problem with that is how about athletes who were not given a chance until later. Joe Burrow was an almost no body, Johnny Unitas was laughed at initially.
Saying that:
Johnny U
Barry Sanders
Jerry Rice
