In honor of the upcoming NFL draft and alot of the talk about sleepers coming to the forefront of many discussions, I thought it would be good to look at the pro's from your school in a different light.

I am looking for the best NFL player that came from your school that was not the same player while at that school. A prime example of what I am looking for is what is currently happening to Cornelius Washington from UGA. He is shooting up draft boards with a freaklike combine performance. Everyone of the UGA fans knew he was an amazing athlete however he under performed while at UGA and could become a very good pro in the right system.

Having said that I think the best pro from UGA that had a "pretty good" but not great career in Athens, but then was one of the all time greats as a pro is Hines Ward.

Hines Ward was an amazing athlete in Athens that never found a home at 1 position, which is why he is in the conversation to begin with. He obviously excelled as a WR once he stayed there and would have been the All time leading receiver in school history had he not spent 1 year at QB and 1 year at RB. Leading up to the draft, he fell down to the 3rd round because teams felt that he was "good at everything, but not great at anything".

Hines Ward in Pittsburgh:

4× Pro Bowl (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004)
3× Second-team All-Pro (2002, 2003, 2004)
2× Super Bowl champion (XL, XLIII)
Super Bowl MVP (XL)
3× Pittsburgh Steelers Team MVP (2002, 2004, 2005)
3× AFC champion (2005, 2008, 2010)
Pittsburgh Steelers All-time leader
(Receiving touchdowns, Receptions, and Receiving Yards)
Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team
Pittsburgh Steelers #86 no longer issued

Safe to say he will be a Hall of Famer in due time.

ETA: A little Hines Ward trivia for you guys- He is missing an ACL in his left knee due to a childhood bicycle accident.

Give me some of the ones that come from other SEC schools...

Have to say Eli at this point. 2 Super Bowls and 2 Super Bowl MVP's... Multiple Pro Bowls

In the end though I think Patrick WIllis will be considered the better player at his position and be more successful

Yes, but Peyton was good enough in college for UT to not be in this discussion. Peyton has a road that leads up to Neyland Staduim for goodness sakes. #1 overall draft pick and UT legend. He is not exactly what I am looking for with this topic.

Oh yeah, Eli was the #1 overall pick. You guys at OM will need to go with Patrick Willis then.

Willie Anderson has always been a favorite of mine. pro bowler or alternate from 01-07, not going to get a lot of awards being an OL for the bengals, but he was a good one. I think he only missed a few games over his whole career
