I thought this could be interesting. Who are the best specialists in SEC history

Deep snapper? Punter? Place kickers? KR and PR?

Just to make it fun, statistics are not the end all be all.

Example: a kicker may not have the best percentage but may have made some crazy kicks in important games....ect

I think UGA could make a case for "FG Kicker U". With Kevin Butler (first K in the hall of fame), billy bennett, brandon coutu, blair walsh, etc. We have 2 of the top 3 all time leading scorers in SEC football history (both kickers). Also claim 3 of the top 6 FG made in SEC history and 3 of the top 11 in FG% in sec history.

the kicker one is the only one I'd actually make a claim for, but some interesting stats regarding our return units historically:

-guy ranked 3rd all time in KOR yardage
-guy tied for 1st all time in KOR touchdowns
-guys ranked 4th, 9th, and 11th in all time PR yardage
-guys ranked 1st, 10th, 14th, and 16th all time in punt YPR
-guy tied for 3rd all time in PR touchdowns

Of all those stats mentioned, it covers 6 different players. Lots of times when a team dominates a particular topic of stats it's 1 or 2 guys that are up there across the board, but UGA has put together a pretty solid list of quality PRs over the last 40 years.

Butler was very good, but I wonder what the tee played in the game before they swithced.

You have a great point. I remember as a kid when I'd watch old VHS videos from that era I'd be like "wtf, they can do that?"

But it's a give and take. The kickers got to use a tee, but nobody's bowl stats counted until like 2000 or something utterly ridiculous like that. Oh well!

Blake McAdams holds the SEC record for most punts in a career. If there was an award, I hope he thanked Croom's #110-ranked offenses.

I remember the Clemson game when he hit that 60 yarder to win. I thought for sure it would get blocked and probably would have if he kicked it off the ground. He was a very good kicker in the Pros, but the football is totally different for a kicker compared to the College football.

That is an easy fix and something they should have done years ago. If they have a problem with the record books, just put an asterisk next to the players name.

Al Del Greco played almost 20 years in the NFL.

Carlson recently was great.

Bynum and Parker also were really good.

What absolutely blows my MIND is why they can't find a team of interns or lower level folks jsut starting in the industry and have them devote 6 months to just updating all the stats to include bowl stats. Hell you wouldn't even have to include tackles or punts or shite like that but at least put the QB/WR/RBs in there.

I'm sure you could round up a group of folks like SOG/TD/SB that would love the hell out of that project.

Javier Arenas was amazing, not sure if he’s best worthy.

Can't remember which year, but one of JK Scott's years he had a better punting avg than all the NFL punters did.

David Palmer and Javier Arenas would be near the top for punt returners.

I'm biased but the Honey Badger was all over the field. He played on punt coverage and returned punts. The kid was just unreal.

I think he came up like 10 yards short of an ncaa punt return record. So yes, he is worthy.
