Ranks right up there with coeds and tailgate scene when it comes to making an epic Saturday.

The spell G-E-O-R-G-I-A cheer is my favorite public education service, so of course I’m saying the Redcoats.

Who’s the best? Pride of the South? Million Dollar Band or the Tiger Marching Band? Whatever Florida trots out these days now that Nickelback has retired?

Ohio State.

Love em or Hate em, that's the only answer.

I like Georgia’s band. Up until like the last 2 years or so, Alabama’s band has sounded very mediocre. Georgia has always had a full sound I love hearing.

Depends on what the criteria is.

On field, A&M's is 2-3 echelons above everyone else.

In the stands...well that's not really the Aggie Band's role.

Florida’s band once did a halftime show marching to Devo’s “Jocko Homo”.

Pretty much trumps anything any other SEC school has done, before or since.

Hah, wow! I mean, that is jumping the shark. Would have loved the fan reaction on that day.

They tell us that
We lost our tails
Evolving up
From little snails
I say it's all
Just wind in sails
Are we not men?
We are Gata!

There is no other band that can pull off the maneuver the FTAB does at the 5 minute mark of this video.

Four Way Cross

BTW, if you are truly a college band fanatic there is a truly amazing event happening this year and it will be cheap to go to.

A&M plays it's final home game against Prairie View A&M. That means you will get to see a great HCBU Band from Prairie View and then the Senior performance of the FTAB which is the only time of the year they perform the 4 Way Cross at Kyle.

The sound produced by the Aggie Band is probably the worst among all SEC schools, maybe all Big 12 schools too.

They are elite marchers, but playing in tune with good intonation is not what they do.

For that reason, it’s VERY difficult to rate them.

LSU’s band is a shell of its former self. They’ve slipped way back into the middle of the pack

I prefer UGA but I’m hardly impartial. However as much as I hate to say anything nice about the Gators, I’ve always thought their band was good.

Depends on what you’re looking for I guess. I don’t care much about marching or dotting the I type stuff. It’s a band, therefore I’m listening.

Without a shadow of a doubt, LSU has the most unique voicing in all of college football. Often times, college bands have a very indistinguishable sound. The voicing and instrumentation is so similar.

The LSU band can play one chord and I know who it is. All the SEC bands contain fine players and have wonderful traditions, but IMO, LSU stands alone in how unique their sound is.
