Just curious how and why Vandy and Arky are locked in but UGA and MSU are not?
No one is locked in. All have plenty of work still to do.

Well I know nobody is really locked in and I know we likely only get 3 National seeds, whether or not a 4th is warranted. I’m just wondering why at this point Vandy and Arkansas are implied to be national seeds but UGA and MSU aren’t viewed with the same implication

Has any CWS championship level program fallen off so fast like South Carolina?
1 game away from Omaha in 2018. too many injuries to pitchers this season. lots of freshmen having to log innings in SEC games. inexperience and new faces dominate to roster.
and to answer your question - Florida.
Gamecocks have beaten the top 3 ACC teams this season - one of them Carolina beat twice.

Their SOS and RPI, but UGA will 100% get a national seed if they win outright or share the SEC title. SEC got 4 national seeds last year fwiw.

Not locks per se. Lots of baseball left tho play.
Vanderbilt has BY FAR the easiest remaining schedule.
Arkansas has played some impressive baseball.
Georgia has the edge right now over MSU, but that could change with the two playing.

UGA will be fine if they keep winning.
States issue is having an overall weak schedule. As of last week it was the worst SOS in the league.

I will not knock the Vols. They have been a lot better then most thought they would be. I think they have some issues but I can see the Vols making a deep run in the post season.
Or they could lose in the Regionals. Baseball can be odd at times. We have all seen series that completely defy rational thought.
I say... Super Regionals with a shot at the CWS if they get hot.

Which is last in the SEC, but would be right behind Texas in the Big XII (ahead of TCU), ahead of Arizona in the Pac 12 and FSU in the ACC. As bad as SC may be, they're still in the upper half nationwide and that's pretty impressive. There are no bad teams in the SEC, period.

Just think if BaseVOLS were tier4 this thread wouldn’t exist

MSU can’t lose another series if we want a national seed imo. Unless we sweep Georgia or A&M then we could afford losing 2 in one series

Texas had a pretty bad few years not too long ago.
And South Carolina's "falling off" includes 2 super regionals in the past 3 years.

UGA had a pretty significant drop off after our 4 CWS appearances from 2001-2008. Obviously not as historically great as Carolina or Texas but still not at all what you thought would happen after finishing runner up in 08

if 'falling off' includes notching a 48th winning season over the past 49 years - then Gamecock baseball is in a monumental slide.
USC's most recent overall losing season was 1996 (23-25 / 13-17) pre-Ray and is the only sub.500 season of Gamecock baseball since 1970.
Carolina's 6 games over .500 with CSU, Furman & Upstate remaining along with 12 league games that includes a home series in Columbia with last place Kentucky.
Gamecocks need 5 wins to finish above .500 overall in a seasons that began with pre-season pitching injuries and included more as it progressed. true freshman and 1st year players have dominated USC's lineup since game 1 this season.
here's a fun fact - USC is 6-6 in true road games this season. State 5-5. LSU 4-10.
