Skip Bertman said just that every year.
So did Ray Tanner but I always observed Ray not putting emphasis on the conference tourney for some reason, instead choosing to use it as a time to play with the lineup and test some of the depth in his bullpen.
Skip loved winning SEC tournaments and so did Ron Polk.

Skip wasn’t a dummy, that’s for sure.

I used to think DVH didn’t care too much about the sec tournament either until he won it in 21.. then that best team got bounced by NC state. Still sad for Kopps.

His GS wasn't hit that far in the RF bleachers. That damn shot by Crews on the high fastball was a blast though.
I'm arguing over which LSU tater was the farthest. frick me.
In all seriousness, your offense coupled with that pitching is going to get y'all a lot of W's.

Hopefully we see Wes Johnson in Arkansas red again. I just knew LSU would be dangerous when they hired him.

It was his first 3-run HR that was the bomb. His GS only went 356. His other homerun went 438. Crews' home run went 446. However, the hardest hit ball all night, as I called in the game thread, was Jobert's single in the later innings. That ball had an exit velo of 110.4

When I heard LSU had hired him, I was reminded of a King of the Hill episode where Dale walked out in the alley to drink a beer with the boys in nothing but his underwear.
The reason why he was in such a sad state of affairs is because he found out some bad news that turned his world upside down. That's how I felt when I heard that Wes Johnson was going to LSU.
Anyway, Dale meandered out to the alley and said "I finally stopped crying only because I started vomiting." I didn't actually do that, but felt like it after hearing the news.

Yes and no. He won several SECTs but Mainieri is the one who really put a lot of emphasis on winning the thing, which is probably why he won it 5 out of 6 years at one point (6 total) and also won 5 Big East tournaments.

Our 1-7 hitters are murders row. Hell even out SS Thompson has been on a tear. And best part about him this year is he has really cleaned up his mechanics in the field.
But Crews is not human and it's not really fair to pitchers. Arkansas played their behinds off, and hit and pitched very well in game 1. I think on Saturday we were just so locked in it did not matter who was out there.
With him, Tommy Boy, Morgan, Thompson, Dugas, and Pearson all hot right now I don't see us losing a series anytime soon. 10erC is the next victim. I'm hoping for a sweep but I don't see us losing that series for sure. LSU vs UF would be a sick series though.

Yes, but we have to face UT. Theoretically, or at least as it was supposed to happen, us playing UT is a tougher part of the schedule than them having to play us, if that makes sense. I guess we’ll see if we kept up our play by the end of the year.
I was simply speaking just from the West teams both of you have. You are also ranked higher with a higher RPI so no it doesn’t really make much sense.

id take .500 out of that schedule. 18-12 in the league. Thats probably good enough to host

We never played well in that thing, and had some pretty good teams bomb out early. We only won 1 (2004) under Tanner but went to 4 CWS finals (winning 2).
The gap is so large that I think we actually had more CWS wins than SEC-T wins under Tanner.

One guy? We've got at least 50 in every game thread (myself included).

I am guessing 3-0 for the Cats!
