14. Ken Seals, Vanderbilt
13. Myles Brennan, LSU
12. Shawn Robinson, Mizzou
11. Jarrett Guarantano, Tennessee
10. Ryan Hilinski, South Carolina
9. John Rhys Plumlee, Ole Miss
8. TERRY WILSON, KENTUCKY
7. FELEIPE FRANKS, ARKANSAS
6. BO NIX, AUBURN
5. MAC JONES, ALABAMA
4. KYLE TRASK, FLORIDA
3. KELLEN MOND, TEXAS A&M
2. JAMIE NEWMAN, GEORGIA
1. KJ COSTELLO, MISSISSIPPI STATE

quote:

Barton's take: "I really think when you consider what Costello has had to deal with over the last couple of years on the offensive line at Stanford, it's been hard for him to really break into that top tier of quarterbacks nationally but he's shown the talent to be that kind of guy. When you go back to 2018 when Costello was healthy, he topped 3,500 yards and led the Pac-12 in passer rating. He's a competitive kid walking into a great system for him."

The skinny: In Mike Leach's Air Raid system in Starkville, Costello could flourish. An accurate passer and above-average decision-maker, Costello will get a chance to be the SEC's leading passer if he stays healthy given Leach's infatuation with moving it through the air.

Even a small sample size should be able to tell anyone with a brain that Myles Brennan is at least better than Jarrett Guarantano. Hell, he'll probably get beat out by Harrison Bailey anyway.

Not sure how they came to this conclusion since both had very similiar numbers and Mond faced much superior competition.

It's all good. Tbh, Brennan really is unproven, so you can't justify him being anywhere high on a list like this. That said, I think he will end up top 3 statistically because of our system. 3500+ yds, 34 tds. Something like that.

ehhh we'll see. guarantano made some boneheaded mistakes last year but his improvement was key in their late season turnaround. i kinda liked some of the things that he did.

but he does belong in the bottom tier of qbs.

My opinion based on what we've seen so far:

1. Costello
2. Trask
3. Jones
4. Mond
5. Newman

ETA I think Costello, Trask, and Jones are all very close and could be swapped around easily.

That's better than:

14: Ty Storey, Nick Starkel, Ben Hicks, whoever else we start.

wow what a shite list from a guy who should know better. 2 trannys ranked 1-2, really?

may just show how bad the SEC QBs are this year

Plumlee will end up towards the top of this list imo

Brennan isn't great but he's definitely not the second worst of 14

weird list

That is about as high as a non-running QB will be able to climb in a Gus offense.
