Yes. I wish the kid well. Sounds like he is close to his GM.

“Antonio’s grandmother recently fell very ill and is still fighting on life support,” the statement read. “He is very close with her. Since this illness took effect, Antonio has taken it very hard. He has not attended classes and practices.

“The University of Alabama has been extremely supportive and I couldn’t ask for better support from them. Yesterday, Antonio asked to be placed in the transfer portal to see what his options are.

“Although he’s in the transfer portal, he still can decide to remain at the University of Alabama. My opinion is that Antonio should stay at the University of Alabama. However he’s an adult and it’s his decision. Antonio knows that his family has & will always be there for him.”

Who cares... Alabama has an 8 game streak on LSU and 20 more active NFL players. It’s good to be a Bama fan.

Yeah, oddly defensive. Have a downvote.

Particularly since no one even said anything classless at all.

I genuinely feel sorry for the young man and his family, no matter where he goes to college.

As of early afternoon on Friday, Sept. 13, Alfano's name has still not appeared in the NCAA's Transfer Portal. It should be noted that student athletes can withdraw their name from the Transfer Portal at any time. Entering your name just allows other programs to have contact with the student athlete, it doesn't automatically guarantee a student athlete is leaving the program. As Alfano's parents noted, they are supportive of him staying at Alabama.

He's from New Jersey and his grandmother is on life support, so he wants to be home. According to a family member, he is not closing the door on going back to Alabama, he's just seeing what his options are.

Some on here will no doubt make this about Alabama and Saban, but it sounds like it's about his family situation.

I wish he and his family well, and respect whatever choice he makes.
