You'd think that, but these kids are dumb. Hell, weren't the Auburn kids standing in front of a business smoking?
Cam was smoking in a car with a stolen gun. Just stupid.

Smoking bags of weed...I guess that's one way to put it. LOL.

Let's be honest, the weed is really irrelevant. About 90% of players smoke it, it's legal in some states and will be in more states every year that passes. The big problem are the guns. As first time offenders, they both likely get off with probation and community service. The question will be what Saban wants to do with them.
Personally, I'd kick Hootie to the curb and suspend Cam. Yeah, I know it's a double standard but that's life.

Of course, I was originally thinking Cam has a case for to say he didn't know it was stolen if it had a serial number. That was my point.

Why kick Hootie Jones off and keep Cam Robinson?

one has a felony gun charge and the other doesn't

These are facts that I know of first hand.
My first hand knowledge comes from close to 20 years of working with law enforcement at either the state or local level.
You said:

Stolen handguns typically have the serial number scratched out, for obvious reasons.
And that simply isn't true. Maybe in the inner city, but the typical stolen handgun is taken in a home or vehicle burglary and then either kept by the thief or sold as quickly as possible and unaltered.

Home isn't the problem. They had those guns in Alabama. They smoked weed in cars in Alabama. There wasn't even anyone else from home in the cars; just 2 Bama players. This has nothing to do with visiting home.
Agree 100%, this wasn't the 1st time Cam and Hootie went smoking with their stolen gun. I bet they do it all the time at Alabama.

Yea, that's ridiculous.

Fandom aside, it's absolutely impossible for me to feel any sympathy for someone who is GUARANTEED to be a millionaire in 12 months, but instead decides to ride around smoking blunts with weapons in the car.

I'm being as rational as I can here. I feel terrible for young kids that frick up their lives like this and I'm all about second chances, but if this was an LSU player and they were indeed guilty of illegally possessing a stolen firearm, I'd want their second chance to be at another school.
That's a very serious crime.

Typically might be strong. I was certainly leaning more towards the inner city line of thinking.

Well the police report said there was a bag of weed on the floorboard. So either they were smoking it or selling it.
If it were me I'd put it as "smoking".

Exactly. And if you have to smoke in a car then go driving out in the country somewhere. If you just have to park the car then do it somewhere less conspicuous. I literally can't think of a worse place to smoke in Monroe. Maybe in front of the court house and police station. Maybe.
But to park your car in a known homosexual meeting location that is routinely patrolled to discourage lewd acts in vehicles, it's just plain dumb.

Really? I guess because Cams an All American? No they both go down or you keep them both.

Because we can all stop pretending CFB isn't a big business. Cam is a big asset, Hootie is expendable. That simple.
