16-28 199 yards 0-1 TD-INT ratio isn't an awful performance.

so i guess because he didnt have a great game against what people called "the best defense LSU has ever had" then he is all of a sudden average, even though he definitely got his revenge on that same vaunted defense.

Good lord, I never even said McCarron was average. At the moment, I think he's the 5th best quarterback in the SEC. He doesn't suck, and he's not a top 3 quarterback like Alabama fans like to think. Krenzel sucked. There's no way around it. His MVP performance was not good, period. And not all MVP performances are good. Someone has to win it though, so just give it out.

Yes dbt_Geaux

How he handled the game, saw the field, choices he made, where he placed the ball more consistantly. "A little each week" is what made CNS and Coach Mac comfortable with putting the last game on his shoulders.

AJ may or may not be a top 3 QB in the SEC by some arbitrary standard...but I can honestly say I wouldn't trade him for any QB in the SEC. He is exactly what we need...Greg McElroy with a strong arm. Dude threw for almost 2,700 yards, 16 TD's(2 more rushing) against only 4 picks. And led us to a BCS NC...as a sophomore 1st year starter. Yeah, I like our guy...you can keep yours.

he was better than average based on his accomplishments. yall can sit here and say oh he was average, but he's sitting at home with a ring and an MVP award that say differently.

He played well on jan9th. Avg qb's have won BCS MVP before. We've established that. Also most of his accomplishments are team oriented.

Well, that I can believe because the gameplan was certainly on AJ . Fair enough, fair enough indeed.

Cap, these LSU fan do not think swing and screen passes should count for a QB because their own QB could not even make them work against us in January.

We should just accept the fact that McCarron can't beat a team when it's put on his shoulders. Oh, wait... Meanwhile, the wannabe Roethlisberger has never started a SEC game.

Well on nov5th he sucked when it was up on his shoulders. He had a great game with a month to prepare.
When only Bama fans think he is top 3 it should be a sign to you Bama posters. I guess not though.

It was his worst game of the year..and he still completed almost 60% of his passes for 200 yards. He also put the offense into scoring position at least 7 times...not his fault the FG kickers decided to have their worst performance of the year, and Mike Williams decided he would forget how to hold on to a catch at the 1 inch line. He did everything Bama needed him to do, other players just didn't come through for us that night. But Bama got the last say on Jan. 9th

In truth, he stepped his play up a little each week after the 1st LSU game. The last step was just the biggest one with more time between games to prep.

Spot on. IMO he played his best on jan 9th.

You are right. Mett has never started a SEC game and I am in agreement that he has to prove himself. Based on the info you have to make a pre-season estimate you are certainly in your boundaries to leave Mett at the bottom of the pack. Go ahead and keep thinking that way...

Now consider. LSU put up 38 pts a game against a superior schedule to everyone on its schedule with JL/JJ at the helm. It does not take a kindergarten kid to see the talent level improvement that Mett puts on the field once you have seen him (which very few people have since LSU did not televise the spring game). Also LSU returns everyone else except Rueben Randle on offense this year. Good luck Gumps!

I thought Tides' front 7 should have gotten it. Even with a poor gameplam the fact is LSU ran over everyone they played (except bama and MSU). The front 7 didn't allow this 1/9/12 in the least.

Take away his pass to trich which was a swing pass and he had 120 yards passing. That horrible

Also agree. I thought that McCarron would be the key to Game of the Century II since he played poorly in the first game. He responded and was the difference in Game I and II. Likewise JJ sucked in Game II and almost imploded the program.

With Les' grip on JJ and the offense, Kige could've lead Alabama to a victory.
