Does NCAA only recognizes 12 in AP era?
1925 - Historical Majority Bama.
1926 - Historical Majority Bama
1930 - Notre Dame and Alabama were unbeaten. The majority of humans and numbers side with Notre Dame’s brutal schedule over Alabama’s greater dominance, with SRS considering these Irish an all-time great. Bama’s claims it even though only Notre Dame finishes #1 in Helms and NCF..
1934-Minnesota has most of the contemporary and retroactive selectors and had the year’s best win (at Pitt), though Alabama played two more games after the Gophers were done, including a win over previously unbeaten Stanford, and beat a couple teams better than any of the non-Pitt stuff on Minnesota’s schedule. Both claims are valid.
1941 - Minnesota. Alabama claims, but The Tide were shut out twice, finished #20 in the AP Poll, and waited four decades to claim this, based literally on one man’s analysis.
1961 - Unbeaten Alabama. Ohio State claims it, but suffered a tie against a 3-5-2 TCU that also happened to wreck Texas’ perfect season.
1964 - Unbeaten Arkansas UPI. Bama finishes #1 in AP, before its loss in bowl game.
1965 - Alabama. Michigan State claims it, based on a poll released before MSU’s bowl loss.
1973 - Notre Dame beat Alabama in a #1 vs. #3 bowl. But Bama #1 UPI before game.
1978 - USC & Alabama split in polls.

Me personally I consider 25, 26, 34,61, 66(idc what anyone says in an ideal world everyone knows that Alabama team is the best), 78, 79, 92, and the 2009 to 2017 championship years. So a total of 13 legit titles in my mind. Back down to 12 if you really wanna call me on 1966.

They claim at least 18.
Since Nick Saban won the 2003 title, most Bammers claim that one as well.

I don't care for claiming '41, but '66 shoulda been... just like 83 shoulda been Auburn.
Regarding the AP era, well, maybe the associated press should've been created earlier if they choose not to recognize polls from the news media of the day.
Honestly, moot point...the University recognizes 17, although there are others the university does not recognize. I have a difficult time claiming 1941.

they claim 2019 as well. if tua was 100% they might have beaten the eventual national champ. and any loss to Auburn is a fluke since everyone knows that other school is inferior

you forgot a few years like 2018, kids in africa have t shirts claiming a bama title. if those kids claim it why not everyone else?

at this point who cares. We have more than anyone else in the SEC

They've won 12 major poll titles, which I think is what most people consider when counting titles.
That is the most all-time, and by a good margin.

I claim none of them.
UA claims 17. I hate the '41 claim. Throw it out and most of the argument against Bama titles goes away.
I also think the '66 non-championship year is odd as it was the most legit resume/results to be awarded a NC from the '64-'66 seasons.
The losing post-season games in an era when post-season games didnt matter doesn't bother me. They weren't the "business trips" of today. It was a reward for a good season. And, first time a lot of those kids got to travel and enjoy a road trip... football or not.

They claim all championships even ones that they did not participate in.

1941 was and is a joke. Because of it, Bama cannot call out any other college that wants to claim a NC. This Photo says it all, Bama started claiming bogus NC in 1983 after Bear Retired.

If you'd like to throw out '41 and replace it with '66, that would be acceptable. Do a little homework on the '66 season and I believe you'll agree that Alabama should have been ranked #1.

I think they are all fine with the exception of 1941

Bama SHOULD have been but they werent and if you are not awarded either the AP or UPI after WWII then you shouldnt claim it IMHO

Well 1, you can if you agree that 1941 is a joke. 2, there was not a system that we ALL AGREED to in 1941. There wasnt even an unofficial declarer like the AP or UPI after WWII. 3, plenty of other schools have gone back and claimed titles later.
