He's been a good coach at Penn St and the Texans. I think he's got the experience to handle the Bama atmosphere and CNS won't let him stray too far. I won't say it's easy to look good at Bama, but it sure's easy to look worse than the previous guy. New QB, starting RB, receivers. I'd say he looks good on paper but we'll know on sept 5th.

Unless Bill is going to have to play my worry is the starting QB for Bama. How will he play when they turn on the bright lights?

We'll see.

It's not the arrow. It's the Indians.

If I were Tide fans I would be a little nervous because this smells a lot like our Scott Linehan hire.

Saban has the ability to make crappy coaches look much better than they actually are. Linehan worked for Saban for 1 year and got a NFL Head Coach job as a result.

Compare BOB's resumé to those ham and eggers Eaux just hired, then get back to us.

I think Saban's players have this ability more than Saban himself.

Closest comparison is Dabol.

Daboll was a big step down from Kiffin in terms of his OC ability and he still managed to win a NC.

O'Brien will do fine.

Saban is responsible for recruiting and developing the players.

To me this is a bad hire from Saban.

O’Brien is the official name listed for the OC position. The offense is Saban’s.

No such thing. He shits out rehab projects that immediately turn to gold.

My point is I don’t think it’s Saban’s guidance of the coaches so much as the assistants simply have better personnel to work with at Alabama.

I don’t think it’s Saban’s offense (like he developed it all as an offensive guru) so much as it’s just Alabama’s in the sense that they just try to keep the terminology consistent from one OC to the next. It doesn’t make any sense for all the offensive players to learn a new way call for a “doubles” formation every year. Just let the incoming OC (with decades of experience and doesn’t do shite all day throughout the year but handle football) learn the current scheme and build on it, evolve it. No need to start over from scratch and have the players spend all spring learning a different way to call the same base shite that every offense is going to have.

It would be stupid to do it any other way unless you were looking for a complete overhaul of the offense.

O Brien won’t be able to put score and outsmart Kiffin. I see the Tide with at least two losses this year.

bullshite, if that were the case they'd just have some average Joe calling the offense.

Much like an offensive Pete Golding.

Now do they have their OC's retrofit their terminology to "Alabama's language?"

Probably.

I guess two losses in the regular season is possible. I'm just not sure to who. I believe Texas A&M will be our biggest test.

May I asked a legitimate question?

LSU hired someone hoping to duplicate the success of Joe Brady, with an impending Fall camp QB battle with winner being on a short leash. You're not nervous about it?

Of course you do. And you saw the Tide with at least two losses last year due to COVID fricking up everything under the sun.
