Saban has proven over 15 years at Alabama that coaching changes aren’t going to cause major rifts
True, and like Leto II said, you really have to first give him the benefit of the doubt, regardless.
I just don't think we (myself included) really ever realized how good Sark was, which makes it all the more difficult for BOB.

I mean we ran a train on the whole SEC with Mike Locksley as OC, so no.

To me this is a bad hire from Saban. I know everything seems to work out on Sabans teams in the long run, but come on this guy hasn’t been in the college game since 2013. He coached in the big ten in 2013 where the offenses were a lot different than today. The guy also had minimal success in the NFL as the Texans ahead coach and rode Brady and Gronk to the super bowl in New England. If I were Tide fans I would be a little nervous because this smells a lot like our Scott Linehan hire.
No. I think a big reason why Alabama has been successful with so many different OCs, aside from talent, is because Saban makes them learn Alabama's system, rather than forcing the players to learn the new coaches system.
So for the players, there is not a ton of change in how things are done. I'm sure he'll put some of his own stuff in, but even that has to be done in the same language as the existing system.
The bigger immediate issue is probably new QB and some new WR. But they are talented and should be a great team.

Excluding Major Applewhite's 2007 stint in Saban's first season, every single OC at Alabama has made it to the national title game. All but Mike Locksley (2018) won at least one title.
That's Jim McElwain, Doug Nussmeyer, Lane Kiffin, Brian Daboll, Mike Locksley, and Steve Sarkasian.
As far as college experience goes, Daboll had been in the NFL since 1999 when he was hired in 2017.
At some point, you'd think people would accept that Saban's pretty good at picking assistant coaches and give him the benefit of the doubt.

I can't really think of a bad hire he's made. He gets the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise IMO.
Saban has built a machine and just keeps replacing parts here and there. As far as I know we have an established offensive terminology that he expects playcallers to operate within rather than bringing in their own language. BOB is going to be fine. Maybe not as good as Kiffin or Sark, but it's foolish to think he's going to be bad.

I've started to have faith in Saban

Easily triggered gumps are just too much fun.

Has there ever been an OC/DC hire under Saba that hasn’t succeeded? You get to use paint and brushes while others use sidewalk chalk

I mean, there's zero chance that he'll be as good as Sark, but I think he'll do fine.
