Do you miss the hire wire act of Lane Kiffin or are you satisfied with Daboll? From an outsiders perspective, it seems like Hurts masks any schematic flaws with his ability to create plays out of nothing. At least against LSU, the plays that killed us were break downs and Hurts just created.

I have been pleasantly surprised. He is not afraid to run a play that works two or 3 more times and his offense is pretty run heavy which i like.

Daboll takes an NFL approach to his game plan. He basically looks at what the defense wants to do and attacks it. He doesn't seem to waste plays like Kiffin. He has developed Hurts and the middle passing well this season. Our efficiency, especially early in the season, had increased, but now has fallen off a bit due to playing better defenses. I think he should burn a little more clock and snap the ball later in the play clock though

I think he's still a work in progress and learning how to call plays in the flow of the game. I think his schemes and game plan are good.

I think he's done a pretty good job. He has moments, but for the most part our gameplans and overall offensive management is really good.

He's not an offensive savant like Kiffin was, but he's very good at pretty much everything else.

And, as an added bonus, I don't think we've had 1 single frantic can't get the play in Delay of Game or Timeout in lieu of Delay of Game all season. We literally probably have 20 of them last year.

Personally, I prefer Daboll over Kiffin. Kiffin often would get enamored with the passing game and forget that we had 235lb backs on short yardage. He did use the "jet" pop pass to wear down a defense then pound them inside at times.
Daboll has used the TE and RBs in the passing game more. He has shown a tendency to stall or sputter at times but has shown the ability to make the corrections needed.

No complaints except run on first down more and don’t run on 2nd as much if we are 2nd and long.

I much prefer Daboll (and his system) over Kiffin. He's done a great job of teaching Jalen how to read defenses presnap and call plays and routes. Jalen is increasingly doing that -- more than a lot of people realize.

For the most part, I like him. I'm interested to see if his approach changes when Hurts isn't the QB.

Lot of great points in here. I'll just add that he doesn't seem to force things, which sort of echoes what other posters have said. Stuck with what worked, even down on the road to State. Doesn't try to get cute with play calls. Just lets the game happen.

I don't think he's a great play caller (above average), but I think he's is so good at prep/managing that he generally plans his way into pretty good playcalling. Probably why he was a pretty meh NFL coordinator but can be an excellent college one.

I love his system and I love the way we've added in new wrinkles with plays off of plays and new formations with unique personnel groupings.

I'd give him a B+/A-.

He lets the offense go into prolonged lulls without doing anything to snap them out.

I don’t like giving BoScar more carries than Jacobs...and sometimes DH.

I think our best plays come when both Jacobs and Harris are in the game at the same time.

I like him so far. I feel like he has room to improve as well as he is still new at this role.

I definitely prefer this style over Kiffin's style in our system

I've been pleased for the most part by Daboll. He can have a series every now and then that makes you wonder what he is thinking, but he isn't as stubborn as Kiffin was in regard to figuring out what he's doing isn't working and going back to what works. Kiffin had a better feel for the big play call, but Daboll is more consistent I feel.

I am way happy so far. but the second half of the season i don't know if he's gotten that much more predictable in terms of his schemes to other teams/coaches, or what, but I do feel, why ever the reason, that we've lacked a little creativity during the second half of the season so far.

Would I want Kiffin over Daboll? No. I am optimistic as hell moving forward and hopeful we can keep him as long as you can expect to keep an OC. I am (obviously from the above content) not a technical analysis kinda guy. Just a regular fan that has a 2 cents opinion... but, I am totally on board so far. I'm HIGHLY interested to watch what he can do in a different QB type scheme.

This is the part that sticks out to me. I like that we throw over the middle and involve TEs more, and we're also not hesitant to lean on our running game when it's working.

I loved a lot of aspects of Kiffin's game, but I don't miss three bubble screens on every drive.

Well when you've thrown them 5 times in a row, do you really think the defense was expecting that 6th one?

I prefer Daboll over Kiffin, but I will always give credit to Kiffin for this: what he was able to accomplish with Blake Sims was nothing short of miraculous.
