Bad hires: When did you know it?

If there is anything that exceeds the blind optimism of a new season, it's a new coach. Like coming up from the water of baptism, you believe all sins are washed away and it's a new life.
Then reality hits.
When was a time when there was a clear indication that the coach you had put all your faith in was just another check-cashing mirage?
For me, it was when Fran spouted off his iteration of Jackie's line about "They better get their licks in now." When Jackie said it in the early 80's, he eventually backed it up with hard-nosed wins. It became a touchstone in Aggie history.
When Fran said it, it was clear he was just following a recipe he'd read somewhere. I knew then that this train had no destination.
Then reality hits.

I knew Aggie grad Curley Hallman was a bad hire the day I heard him tell RC Slocum, JT Curtis Bill Curry and others at a coaching clinic, “Hey RC, we need to get that Jesse Jackson involved in this Prop 48 rule.”

When Joker was recruiting against MAC schools for players. Hartline getting arrested before the bowl game and losing to Pitt was the big “well frick” moment.

Pretty sure we knew before this but when Joker Phillips ended summer practice early for the fricking ice cream truck. Fastest they ran all season.
