They are turning in an all-time great defensive season to date in an era where nobody completely shuts down yardage anymore.
It's remarkable.

I think Georgia will find a way to lose in the playoff!

I know a lot of it has to do with the athletes they've recruited and the schemes Lanning and Kirby come up with and coach these guys up. But watching them last week, what stood out the most is the tackle extremely well. We've all seen some of the piss poor tackling efforts over the past few years by college teams. It's become an epidemic.
Not at UGA though. They DO NOT miss tackles. It was impressive to get to see up close.

They are never in the wrong place, they play at max speed at all times (never seem confused and playing while thinking) and like you said - they do NOT miss tackles in space.
Combine that with an absolute unit at DT that collapses everything and boy......there aren't many places for an offense to find space.

If you could factor out missed tackles, UF would be in the top 5. Gator D can't tackle a blocking dummy.

Nakobe isn’t quite as good of a player as Roquan Smith, but I can say without a doubt that he’s the best leader we’ve had in a while. He has free reign to call a blitz, change coverages, etc based on offensive personnel. He does it a lot. And it works.

We’ve also simplified the defense some this year so they are in more of a read and react mode.

Lanning going to get the bag as a head coach

Kinda hope that happens so we can move Schu or Muschamp up to DC

I was told Kirby’s prehistoric offense would never change

Two years later a lot of people on here still think we run 75% of the time

More trolls than morons, I think. Hard to find good football discussion on the actual SECR page .

It’s a misleading stat if your team happens to have a great defense and gets a lot of turnovers and short fields, which Georgia does

Available yards is actually not a misleading stat. I think it is one of the best, most telling stats out there. Even if you get a short field, you still have have finish the job.

You still have to get the yards, but going 80-85 is harder than going 50
