Jim Rome and the beat writers in Miami does not equal "national media."

Auburn will be the joke of college fooball if they hire this assclown. I pray they hire that tard. Saban owns him.

The guy is probably the best offensive mind in college football, especially when it comes to X's and O's.

We could do worse. The fans want the guy but his baggage really conflicts with the "small town country" and "family" vibes we try to sell here, so I'm not sure if we'll actually hire him.

Endowment means jack-frickin-shite. South Alabama has an endowment of over 400m but can't put any of it into athletics.
Probably because the donators put stipulations on it outside of athletics...that's the part that matters if you are concerned about athletics being the main recipient. But that is not what makes most universities money. Students are...and students come when it is worth attending. Research also helps...that is why Stanford, Harvard, and Yale are all the best.

Endowments mean everything. You should know...UF has a huge one.

Tony Franklin ... I think he is one the rising stars that got crapped on by Tuberville. However going with him will require a complete dedication to the spread.

For those that havent been keeping track of him he is now the LA TECH OC.

If his offense still demands the offensive linemen to be lean and fast, his offense will utterly fail against the top defensive units.

As a thoughtful post to a decent poster...

Petrino would be the best hire Au could make from a Bama perspective. The guy has only ever fielded average defenses at best, and the turmoil and baggage that would result a couple/few yrs down the road would be enjoyable for Bama fans.

Au would be best hiring someone like Paul Rhoades, or going after a Peterson or Patterson.

Petrino has been able to win some games, but I really think the guy is a piece of sh*t and I do not want us to hire him.

Tried to stab Tub in the back. Walked out on the Falcons in the middle of a season and didn't even have the guts to tell his players. Cheated on his wife with a woman he wrongly hired.

Those of you advocating hiring him, did you actually go to Auburn? Our university is much more than a football team. Not worth hiring scum like him IMO.

Apparently I have offended Tennessee fans in their coaching threads, so I would appreciate it if Auburn would hire Dooley.

Maybe I stand corrected then. However, I talked to several Nole fans out on Fri night last weekend then when I was eating lunch Sat watching the AU game at Hooters near the stadium. There were about 20-30 FSU fans that descended on the Hooters on the way to the game. The ones I talked to did not think Fisher would even consider leaving, but they also thought he was underachieving. One couple in particular thought this that goes to every home and away game and lives in Tallahasse. The wife was pretty hard core too and even started talking to me about the 1990 AU/FSU game in AU that she was at. They didn't seem thrilled at all with Fisher and thought he should be doing better.

No, Auburn fans like yourself are the "frickin hypocrites". For 5 years now Auburn fans like yourself have bragged about how Auburn is above hiring a scumbag adulterous cheater like win at all costs Bammers. Auburn fans like you speak of Saban this way despite no documented behavior that would support this cheater label. Now that Petrino looks like an option a lot of fans like yourself are explaining away all his well documented issues. That's why part of me hopes you guys hire Petrino so that all your fanbases high and mighty holier than thou lecturing about ethics will be seen for the hollow rhetoric it is.
