I'd say more like top 20 but that's splitting hairs.

IMO top tier is top 10 or maybe even a more selective top 5. Places like Oklahoma, Tx, ND, Michigan, Bama.

I'd be shocked if Petrino is the guy. Arkansas got lucky they didn't get brought into a sexual harrasment lawsuit. If Auburn were to hire Petrino and ANYTHING of inappropriate behavior nature involving Petrino were to happen it wouldn't be a hard case against Auburn for bringing him in with knowledge of his history.

16th best winning percentage, 12th most wins, 13th in winning percentage when you factor in teams that have more than 700 wins, etc.

I don't really know how you go about ranking a program but that's where I would start. I think history certainly supports Auburn as being a top 15 team if someone wanted to make that claim. If Jacobs is fired then the job becomes very appealing.

Sorry but I got to stop you here for a second. Yeah, mrbroker has a horrible point, but saying Saban cheated/is cheating on his wife with absolutely no proof is just plain stupid. That would be the equivalent of someone that doesn't know you, saying you cheated on your wife/husband.
And to ask:

Could you have provided one about Petrino cheating if he hadn't had that wreck?

Are you kidding me? That's just as horrible of a point that mrbroker just tried to make.

And as far as quitting teams, last time I checked Bobby Petrino bailed out with three games left in the season. His players had to find out by reading a post-it note left on their lockers.

Well, my only question is does Petrino win games and would he win big at Auburn.

I think the answers to both those questions are yes.

The rest doesn't really matter that much to me. Of course maybe I am just morally bankrupt. That's cool. But I still think the job of the HC is to win and I think Petrino would do that at AU.

And I am not worried about him leaving AU. No coach in the last 7-8 decades has wanted to so I do not see that as a big concern.

that may be a great sentiment when hiring a coach for an NFL team but a college is different. You are not only paid to win but you are the players roll model and mentor..BP fails at every level going forward in that respect..And if Bama was looking for a coach I would hope they would not give BP one bit of consideration even if Bama was 0-8 right now.

Stats are a good place to start but stats don't tell the whole story. Bama lost a ton of games during the 2000's and it didn't make them any less of a top tier program. Same for ND not being a contender for many years.

Besides, as I said, I don't consider top 16 as top tier. Schools behind auburn are the likes of Mich state, Georgia tech, Wittenberg, etc.

Not really "dissing" it just the reasons you pointed out why AU wouldn't go after Bobby P doesn't make a lot of sense.

If anyone hasn't noticed but Bobby Lowder is not a the head of the BOT anymore. There's some fresh blood at that table now and now they make decisions. If Jacobs is fired along with Chizik Lowder will no longer have any type of influence at all. The reason I bring Lowder into the is because he was a shot caller and did a crap ton of decision making in some of Auburn's most successful years. He started the booster organization Tigers Unlimited where Jacobs was actually the President of for some time. He was hand picked by Lowder and was more than likely put into the AD position with Lowder's influence.

Not trying to black helicopter, but new people are in charge and they'll go after whoever they want.

i understand that but you and I pointed out the same basic facts on why BP will probably not be considered at AU..that was my only point..I never talked about Lowder etc

Of course he wins games. Just hasn't beat Alabama as a HC. Is that something your fan base can take? Bring in a new coach that wins but can't get it done at the end of November?
