I'm listening to a UGA podcast and they are interviewing an Auburn beat writer.

He goes on about how Auburn recruiting had suffered for a couple of seasons because of Malzahn's hot seat. But he goes on to say that the new 7 year contract is hopefully going to help the Gus bus get the recruiting back on track.

The obvious concern is that this recruiting cycle has signing day after the regular season.
What record does Auburn expect to have this season?
Does the record matter to this 2019 recruiting class? Or can fan sentiment sway the perception on Gus' future in Auburn?

Sept. 1: vs. Washington (in Atlanta) - TU
Sept. 8: vs. Alabama State - W
Sept. 15: vs. LSU - W
Sept. 22: vs. Arkansas - W
Sept. 29: vs. Southern Miss - W
Oct. 6: at Mississippi State - W
Oct. 13: vs. Tennessee - W
Oct. 20: at Ole Miss - W
Nov. 3: vs. Texas A&M - TU
Nov. 10: at Georgia - TU
Nov. 17: vs. Liberty - W
Nov. 24: at Alabama - L

1 sure loss, 8 likely wins, 3 tossups.

I don't think AU will be all that, but their schedule sure doesn't look very scary outside of away trips to UGA/Bama where they are typically guaranteed an L.

For the last few years, everytime auburn has averaged at least 7 to 8 wins every two years. So 7-5. Defense is solid but offense will miss some playmakers. They still have the gus bus

Washington is a big swing game for us because it would give us a ton of momentum if we win. So if we beat them I go 10-2 if we lose then 8-4.

Auburn's recruiting has consistently been top 10 every year. What year did it fall off so drastically that it has to be put back on track?

of course! Never mind you haven't won there in 13 years, but sure it's safe to go ahead and expect a win.

Defense will be the best AU has had the last 10 years, and they have depth. AUs Offense will be different than any Gus has had while at AU. This is the first time he has had a proven returning Passer. Look for Stidham to make different type throws this year and look for the TE to be a bigger target. This Offense will look like it did in 2009, but with a QB who can pass more than 15 yards downfield. I think AU goes into the UGA Game undefeated.

Four very tough games away for JHS. They do not do well in those games.

8-4 with the losses to Bama, Georgia, Washington and Miss St.

Peterson is going to coach circles around Gus in game 1.

who is your RB? Not a flame I genuinely don't know. I know johnson is gone and I think Kam is gone too but not sure.

CGM hasn't really used a TE in yrs. Is he finally letting Chip take control?

Valid question although not particularly relevant to the discussion. Whoever we plug in there will have 1,400-1,800 yards and 18-22 TDs.

the post I responded to wrote all about AU's defense, AU's passing game, and the playcalling. I asked abotu the run game. How is that not relevant.

There is very little difference this year between any year for Auburn. With some breaks 10-11 wins is very doable more is possible. If we have some injuries or a bad break or two we will end up with 8 wins.

IMO our OL likely will hold us back from a serious championship contender, but we will be in the conversation throughout the year.

The last couple of cycles according to the Auburn beat writer.

No offense... but top 10 in the country could mean 4th in the conference behind 3 teams that you play against every season (Bama, UGA, and LSU).

I think the difference between the past couple of recruiting cycles and previous ones was that Auburn hasn't fared as well in head to heads against Bama and UGA. That's my take-away from the Auburn beat writer's comments.

The discussion was surrounding Pappoe and the momentum that Auburn has right now going into his May verbal commitment (the beat writer referenced visits for Jaden Haselwood and others).

Most likely Whitlow with Martin being used as well. But frick having to go to Tuscaloosa and Athens in the same year ~2 weeks apart. Really wish they'd alternate where we could play one at home and one away.

People are forgetting that the home team always loses in the A&M Auburn series.
