Meh. 1983 Auburn got beat by #3Texas at Jordan-Hare. 1977 Alabama beat #1USC at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Both were the SEC Champs.

Lol at the meh comment RE: the SOS of the 1983 Auburn team. Most computer models would place that SOS very high in terms of all time schedules. That team got hosed.

Look here is the deal, Auburn has been screwed more than any team throughout history when it comes to national title voting or national title chances, while their biggest rival has been given gift after gift throughout their history. I dont blame them for doing this

Only titles that count since 1936 are AP and Coaches/BCS. That's it. Everything else is bogus.

This entire thread is beyond stupid. It is like a couple of 6 year olds in a pissing contest. Nobody and I do mean NO BODY outside of Alabama gives a shite. If claiming "National Championships" is what you need to feel manly, then by all means do it.

I agree, but this is why judging a team on NCs is ridiculous. So are we supposed to think 2007 LSU is better and more prestigious than 2004 Auburn, eventhough AU had 0 losses while we had 2? That is why college football has been a fraud for so long

I guess those particular Auburn fans must still be waiting in line to use the Lee County computer, then, because this thread is mostly Auburn fans defending the new claims and fans of other teams laughing at them.

This was being talked about before the game last month.
If you go to the google, this is the third link that comes up searching for the 83 AU football season. It gives a pretty good rundown of what happened and why Auburn should have a claim for that year.

26, 27, 30, 34 total combined stats.
39-0-1, 27 shutouts, 3 Rose Bowl wins and a tie.
Bama outscored their 40 opponents 1133 to 107
Average score 28.3 to 2.6
Now, argue a case against those 4 teams.
Now, as for 1941, I gladly count it to make up for getting shafted by the media darlings Notre Dame in both 1966 & 1977, in 66 we finished 10-0 and they went 9-0-1 and we were preseason #1.
In 1977 we were both 11-1 they lost to Ole Miss by 7 and we beat Ole Miss by 19. They jumped from 5th to 1st after the bowl games, over our 2nd place team who played USCw & Nebraska out of conference.
Bama could claim 27 titles under Auburn's new standards, & Notre Dame could claim 29.
Auburn has disgraced themselves enough by collecting thieves for quarterbacks, don't embarrass the state of Bama any further, or just petition to move to Georgia.
