Visited your campus recently. Loveliest village on the plains my arse. Campus and town were hilly as hell. Pretty but damn, nearly every building looks the same.

Somebody obviously has never read "The Deserted Village".

Says "Switzerland." A country with a rich, vibrant history of unmitigated dullness. Glass houses, stones, some stupid windmill or something.

Go be neutral somewhere else

So do the students... here are some graduate assistants helping restore oak trees so that they can be used for future toilet paper disposal...

Or are they undercover tree assassins planted in AU's school system years ago to lay in wait until one day they are called upon to poison those oak trees?

Auburn (the city) was settled and founded in 1839 by Judge John J. Harper. When it came time to choose a name for their new settlement/town, Judge Harper's daughter, who was a fan of the literature and poetry of Oliver Goldsmith, suggested "Auburn".
The following is the first line of Goldsmith's poem "The Deserted Village":
quote:
Sweet Auburn! loveliest village of the plain
No, there are no "plains" in Lee County, Alabama, but there are in the mythical town from whence Auburn is named.
Now you know.
And, oh, by the way, farther into that same poem, you find the following line:
quote:
Where crouching tigers wait their hapless prey
Now you know more.

Kansas actually has quite a few hills.
EDIT: Replied to the wrong person but screw it. Eastern Kansas is like, all hills.
