Those 68 wins represent about 0.5 wins difference per year since they've been playing, which in fact has narrowed a bit over the last 15 years during Dantoni's tenure as MSU coach. It's really not a big difference, and as noted, Auburn's major achievements (conference and national championships) and MIch St. are almost indistinguishable over time.
Again, this isn't to diminish Auburn. MSU was offered as a peer comp for the relationship they and Auburn have as it relates to legendary flagship programs in their state.
