Tell me about Jack Owen. He is starting against state. I know he is a lefty and didn’t pitch against us in Starkville in the weekend series

Jake is that you? Is that why you have 15 by your name? I'm impressed you are using the rant for scouting out your foes.

nah I just like knowing the opposing teams starting pitcher. The only Auburn pitcher I really know is Tanner Burns

Here ya go baw. Owen is from California. Committed to Mississippi State early in his high school career. Switched to Auburn after Butch Thompson got the job. He's a traitor baw. Let's go whack him around baw.

from what I've seen he's good not great. Hasn't pitched too great this post season. I think his ceiling is holding MSU to 1 or 2 runs through about 6. I'd say he goes 5 and gives up 3 or 4 though.

think thats a fair assessment against a loaded offensive team like MSU

Thumbing lefty who can spot his pitches really well. His fastball doesnt reach 85 mph but his off speed is good

Jack Owen was not part of our opening weekend starters. We have had injuries to our top 3 pitchers, including Owens missing more than a month of time during the middle of the season due to shoulder tendinitis. Has slowly improved, but not the same pitcher he was earlier in the year.

Against UNC in the first game he pitched 5 innings and gave up 4 runs. Had a 2.45 ERA before that.

Jack's fastball is in the low 90s. Has a plus change up and good control.

He was putting up video game numbers, better than Small before getting sore near the start of conference play. Has been limited since coming back.

Biggest key with Jack will be his pitch count.

He is good. There is no way we win with him pitching. 0-bbq for state in the CWS unfortunately
