I say Pat Dye

4 SEC titles

Got Alabama game moved to campuses

Only coach to to win back to back 10 win seasons in 1988-1989. Only time it has been done in school history. Shocking.

Only Auburn Coach to win more than 1 SEC title.

Beat good Alabama teams. Tuberville beat some the worst Alabama teams in the last 60 years.

He was also 5-2 against top 5 teams.........three of those wins were against UF.

I am no Auburn Football historian but I feel like no coach had more of an impact on that program - at least in the last 50 years - than Pat Dye. Auburn had its little moment in the sun in the late-50s, but by 1980 Alabama owned the state and the rivalry. Auburn just could not compete. It was Dye who made the Iron Bowl competitive once again and turned Auburn into a legitimate SEC power.

I think he is close. Tubs biggest problem is he would lose games he never should lose.

Shug is the best HC Auburn has ever had, IMO. Dye is a close second. Tub would be a close third on my list.

Big game coaches........I would take Tub every time.

I feel like this is the right answer.

If Dye hadn't gone out like he did, he would have had a great case as Auburn's greatest. The 80s alone had him on track to get there. He owned that decade.

Not an auburn fan, but Gus Malzahn is the correct answer.

Exactly and was dominated by the Bear.

Dye put Auburn FB on the map and Bowden's early success was almost entirely due to Dye.

Well, it didn't hurt that he came along when Alabama couldn't get a good head coach.

He dropped off when Stallings got going

So I'm not the only one confused about the title vs actual subject, that's good.

I think it had less to do with Stallings and more to do with "Keep it down home, cuz."
