Sorry if this question seems like a troll or something but seriously, help me understand ....

Why did Auburn get rid of Gus? He had the best record against Saban of any coach. Seriously, if Saban had any trouble with any team really it was Gus and Auburn. He could never defend the unconventional.

Well true but he was the one everyone adapted from.

Somehow Saban was the only one who couldn't figure out our 5 play playbook

From the peanut gallery: They have higher aspirations than what Gus had become. Offense was stagnant and it seemed he could not adapt.

Because he couldn’t beat Georgia. That is a very important game to Auburn. He failed badly in big games.

When Gus finally got a top 20 defense (thanks Steele) his offense went anemic. He never adapted on offense. He failed to develop players especially QBs. Plus he could not recruit SEC level Olinemen.

1. Offensive Genius who lost control over his Offense the last 3 years.
2. Failed to develop QBs.
3 Lived and died with the HUNH, then dropped it.
4. Had a S&C Program designed around the HUNH, but dropped that Offense in 2015.
5. Offensive System limited the skill set for some talented players.
6. Play calling that chased off 4 OCs in the last 5 years.

Nobody from Auburn questioned Gus's character and the integrity of the program. He was just not willing to change and AU fans were tired of the failure to take advantage of any success.

They wanted to get ranked 98 in recruiting rankings. Ranked 87 so they are well on their way.

“Beating Saban” isn’t the measure stick, gump.

His recruiting was going to shite, he was never consistent, and we had an awful record against our biggest rivals.
