Being 5th in the league is abject failure for most Auburn fans.

They played LSU better than anyone, played Florida tough in the Swamp, and the UGA game could have easily been tied up if that catch (which I thought was a catch) wasn't overturned.

Their Oregon win is looking better and better each week.

We aren’t the best fan base, I agree. Malzahn’s offense has digressed to one of the worst In the sec which is the opposite reason of why we hired him. He brought a freshness to the SEC and his first two years was an offensive spectacle. After that, he lost his mind and started trying to go more like a pro-style offense, since then the offense has fallen off the map. We wanted him to go back to old Gus, but he just isn’t going to :sadface: The potential is so great but he can’t go back.

We play 3 of those teams every year.

So should be always expect 3 losses automatically?

Well, I mean LSU, BAMA, UGA, and UF are all traditional rivals of Auburn it seems they have all passed us by. We have a brutal schedule every year with playing in the west and having UGA as our permanent cross division game. And Gus is something like 0-10 on the road in Tuscaloosa, Athens, and Baton Rouge.

Look, I don't expect to be in the hunt for a Natty every year. That's unrealistic as we are not a traditional blue blood program. I do, however, expect to compete with and beat our rivals at least half the time. It gets old being totally inept against good teams but go out and blow the doors off the middle to lower tier teams in the league.

I saw a quote earlier today that sums up Auburn under Gus perfectly today: " Gus has Auburn firmly in a spot just above mediocrity but well below elite" or something of that nature and it is 100% true and frustrating as hell. He has brought in more talent than any coach in AU history and squandered every bit of it.

Gus will likely turn in a 9-10 win season, and his fan base is baying for his blood with no guarantee of a replacement that will be any better than what they have now.

Strange.

Some guy named Mike Marshall was on 740 in Montgomery yesterday and said some crazy shite about Kevin Steele taking over if Gus gets canned. What a crock of shite.
