YAWN. I don't know why Auburn bothers to field a team. It's not this hard.

Jacobs isn't that big of a problem, if he can hire Larry Eustachy or someone like that it'd be nice.

I don't understand the urban sport aspect. Are you saying because auburn is itself far from being an urban hub? Because if it's about recruiting there are plenty fo places in alabama that have talented kids and atlanta is just over an hour away.
I mean that some urban kids want to stay in an urban area and that eliminates us from the equation. By itself it isn't a big deal but in our case it is one of many obstacles to overcome.

What Auburn needs is a coach who took over a complete shite program, rebuilt it, then had success. This is because Auburn needs rebuilt and needs a guy who knows how to do it from the ground up and bring in the guys to do it. It doesn't matter what his record as a coach is, Crean's record at Indiana is barely over .500 and that is including this season, it is way below .500 when you take this year out.
I couldn't agree more.

We were dead last in every sport that matters this season.
Under Jacobs Auburn was the first team in the history of the SEC to ever finish 13th in football.
Auburn was the forst ever team to finish 14th in baskeball under Jacobs also.
He fn sucks. That redneck does not know a goddamn thing about sports or Auburn it seems. Then there is the embarassment of having to hire a search committee to hire a new football coach because Jacobs cannot do his own job.

Two years ago AU fans loved the coaches in both basketball and football, along with the new arena and exceptional fund raising.
He fired Gene at the same time any other AD in the country would have, and hired a guy that most AU fans are happy with. He sent Tubbs and Lebo packing when most AU fans wanted them gone.
Considering AU fans were on board with all those moves at the time, seems to me the guy gets too much hate.

Gene Hackman or Rick Stansbury. Either would be equally entertaining.

I've never been to El Paso but I can't help but to think there is something that is keeping him from being able to land at least somewhat comparable talent here.
If you want to see what EL Paso looks like just lift the tail of a mangy dog and when you see it's a-hole, you have seen EL Paso, TX

He will get another year and then hopefully we can attract a decent lower level coach like Michael White of La Tech.
He will definitely get another year. Scott Miller is bringing in some quality recruits, so things could turn pretty quick. That being said, I'm personally hoping the season next year starts off pretty terrible and they can Barbee, and promote Miller to finish out the season. Family friend so I would love to see him get a shot and be able to run with it.

What did Jacobs do to make both the football & basketball teams give up like they did this past season?

Only idiots wanted Tubbs fired.

He's just had a tough time retaining the talent.

Auburn and Ole Miss will be fighting for the next coach....Auburn isnt quite a dream job, luckily Barbee could always go back to Cal at KY. Good recruiter, good assistant coach, bad HC

By raising ticket prices and lucking into a new SEC tv deal. Little to nothing to do with Jacobs ability to do his job well.

He hired the coaches that the teams quit on.

Define "talent." Many people thought the players Chizik got had "talent" also.

Kouassi and Langford are the only 2 that had other decent offers. Our current freshman class has potential but they aren't the one and done type that can make an immediate impact.

Meh. Earnest Ross(transfer) and Varez Ward(point shaving) are the only 2 that would have made much of a difference on this years team. Langford would have probably started by default at the 4 but he would have only been a slight improvement over Allen Payne.

I liked the Miller hire. For Barbee's sake I hope that it isn't too little too late. He really needs to have to finish above .500 next season and get to around 7-8 conference wins to be safe to get a 5th year.
