Don't know much about TT but their defense can be pretty good at times. If TT makes the playoff I think they won't be an easy win.

I agree, the sec, big 10 and big 12 should refuse to schedule them until they join a conference. They are ranked 10 in the cfp and have only beaten USC.

Hopefully the "Home" for Auburn doesn't end up being Atlanta too...

Great trip. While Notre Dame has a nice campus, South Bend is a dump, so most visiting fans stay elsewhere. We stayed in Chicago and took the Irish Express bus to the game (our bus was all Aggies -- they ask you who you are supporting when you sign up and allocate busses accordingly) and it worked great. Although our game ended late, we beat the folks taking the charter train from Chicago by two hours, so keep that in mind.

If you are playing during baseball season, check out the schedule and see if the Cubs are in town on Friday. Combining Notre Dame and Wrigley makes it a truly special trip.

Congrats on being ranked too high those years b/c you play ND.

See aTm and Miami this year as your example.

I went to a Notre Dame vs USC game almost 20 years ago… excited to go back and watch my team play there.

Auburn will bring a ton of fans there… will look like when Georgia played them up there. Will be a sea of orange. There are just certain venues you don’t miss if your team is playing there.

Auburn is fortunate enough to check off a Penn State primetime white out game… a trip to Duke to play in Cameron Indoor… and now a trip to play Notre Dame in South Bend. All in an 8-year period.

Goodness. Makes you wonder if they are auditioning to be invited to be in the SEC when there is another round of expansion.

1000% agree. The committee doesn’t want to deal with ridicule so they are just going to likely slot based on W-L as the main driving force. Hence no reason to risk a loss when even a W doesn’t do much for you.

It will take this and force them, they will likely join the ACC then. Only way is to lock them out from the playoff. Their collective might isn’t greater than all of college football

Hokenson basically said today that one of the reasons Cohen felt comfortable taking away a home game against Baylor is because he knew he was going to be able to announce the Notre Dame series soon. Moving the Baylor game to Atlanta will bring in an extra $5 million for NIL, and with a new coach, it was probably a smart move.

why is the sec propping up Notre Dame SEC should refuse to schedule Irish

This. The SEC needs to boycott the Irish and force them to join a conference. They’re reeling after USC dumped them. Now would be the perfect time to go after them. Especially since the ACC is in shambles

Scheduling them gives them the same cakewalk path they have this year with 2 losses and they’re guaranteed in

IMO- there are 9 elite programs outside the SEC:

Ohio State
Notre Dame
Michigan
USC
Nebraska
Penn State
Florida State
Miami
Clemson

I’d rank them in that order… and then there is a pretty big drop off to whoever is next (probably Michigan State).

Prior to recent history and recent announcements for upcoming games, Auburn had had very little history of playing these schools in a home-and-home setting.

Florida State and Clemson are the two Auburn has played many of times… FSU most recently in 1989/1990, so it’s been awhile. Clemson most recently in 2016/2017, and just before that in 2010/2011.

Auburn played Nebraska way back in 1981/1982, and we played USC in 2002/2003.

But now these bigger home/away trips seem to be happening more frequently…

2021/2022- Penn State
2027/2028- Notre Dame
2029/2030- Miami

All that leaves is Ohio State and Michigan. We’ve never had a home and home with either… playing both only in bowl games since Ohio State made the trip to play Auburn in Montgomery back in 1917.

The Horseshoe and the Big House are the next two on my list. Wouldn’t mind seeing Nebraska and FSU cycle back around since it’s been quite awhile.

Im thinking the same thing. Navy is essentially the only sacred game on their schedule at this point. Conventional wisdom all these years would’ve led to thinking they were always destined for the B1G. Of course they would prefer their current set up, but if forced to actually join a conference it makes sense they would go SEC

1) they already play half their games at home in the midwest. Why would they want to play the other half of their games in the midwest? This is a national school, not regional

2) best recruits in all sports come from the southern half of the USA

3) the south is growing in population. Especially catholic Hispanic. Makes sense from a broader institutional level

4) SEC + ND would be the top financial destination. SEC viewership #1 for eyeballs and will be #1 by far media deal

5) If the ACC gets raided they lose their non-football sports home. If they think this will happen it would be best to get ahead of this. They could probably even have a say in who joins with them

That's leave MSU and UK as the only SEC programs to not have played ND.
