If this is how you say it has been and is just the assistant coach and his money, I have two questions.

Why self impose the postseason ban?

Why not release the NOA if you guys already know what is in it?

These are fair questions. I've been under the assumption that it was cut and dry, but maybe there's more to it than we've been told.

Only thing it could be is there is more or Pearl has already had issues and that will count against Auburn.

Because there in now precedent to this because an Oklahoma State coach did something similar. Also, Auburn sat the players involved. I'm not sure what OSU did with regard to their players.

You mean the info everyone already knows?

Bama had a coach do it. No ban.

It does appear so.

With that said, Auburn won't be given any mercy from the NCAA unlike all the basketball bluebloods implicated in this whole ordeal.

Maybe the Barn is hedging on there not being a basketball postseason anyways, so frick it, self-imposed ban to get ahead of this thing.

Interesting timing right after the Alabama probation was announced though.

Yes and Bama didn't get a ban for having a coach getting money. If Bama didn't, why go with what happened to OSU?

Sorry, Associate Athletic Director.

Much better.

Don't ever forget that AU hired Pearl all the while knowing of his prior involvement in violating NCAA rules. Especially in lying about it to the NCAA. Right or wrong, the NCAA does have a long memory.

Right. I gave the OSU example because it's almost the same exact thing that happened at Auburn. Like I said, Auburn did sit the players involved. I'm not sure about OSU.

I have always thought there is more to this because Pearl wouldn't even talk to Auburn about it. It seemed a lot like the LSU situation, but while LSU suspended Wade, Auburn did nothing to Pearl.

Pearl still refusing to talk to Auburn officials

So you think an Associate Athletic Director would get you off easier than a coach?

I also think dollar amounts could be a factor.

Uh, it apparently did. The NCAA ruled on both Alabama and OSU. I'm not really sure what you're trying to argue at this point.

I guess if they are the same, you should expect scholarship losses.

Maybe, I'm assuming they're hoping sitting the players and the recruiting restrictions should help out some when it's finally settled.

I guess I am saying I wish Bama would have taken a postseason ban after seeing what happened with OSU. Oh wait...
