Probably because the WCWS is more exciting.

How many times does it need to be said that there’s no Big 3 at the collegiate level?

College Baseball is just as irrelevant as softball, women’s hoops, gymnastics, track, and docking.

WCWS is a better product. It's a bigger sport. Really surprised the ratings are even close.

This and easier to sit on the couch for 90 mins than for 3 damn hours.

Every game in Omaha at that sterile park trends along the same exact trend. Little offense, premium on defense, hard to make comebacks once you get down more than 3 runs.

It's awful to watch.

There was so much more excitement at Rosenblatt.
Even the regionals and super regionals have more compelling games to watch.

TD Ameritrade has choked all offense out of the park for the most part.

Vandy averages around 8 runs a game and even they struggle to put runs up.

So one diagram gives exact numbers. One diagram estimates. One includes the championship series. One championship hasn't been played yet. I need more accurate data before proclaiming one dead, and the other vastly superior. Oh, lulz at a Gump for starting a softball thread.

Because Vandy guy gonna Vandy, that means the WCWS averaged somewhere around 908K viewers per game prior to the Finals. The WCWS definitely gets an interest boost because it's the only softball most people ever see on TV. The CWS is still competing with most baseball people's MLB rooting interests. Also, the numbers should also jump the rest of the way for the CWS since there won't be any more mid-day games on a weekday (barring some weather intervention with tonight's game or a Finals series game).

Yea. This is a bit premature. If these numbers were AFTER the CWS, then sure.

Last night's FSU-TTU game received a 0.74 metered market avg. The Alabama-Florida game in the WCWS received a 0.63 metered market avg.

I’m not arguing baseball won’t see a boost come championship series.

That said, they won’t see the boost softball saw this year overall when compared to last year.

Also the Thursday and Sunday rounds of the WCWS were going head to head with the Finals.

There are no professional women's softball games to watch, ever.

Thank God.

Your thread states "At this stage." However, you posted total numbers for softball, and early rounds for baseball. Just pointing out a major flaw in your reasoning.

This was your thread title

So why didn't your thread title read "WCWS receives higher year-over-year ratings growth than CWS?"

I’m sorry you feel lied to.

More than anything I just wanted to show how narrow the gap is between the interest in baseball and softball.

im in the camp of this is really stupid to compare considering the CWS is still going on and now the rest of the games will be in primetime not on a weekday when everybody is working.

Im willing to bet the CWS will have better overall ratings than WCWS when all said and done. Thats not a slight to womens softball though. There are some intriguing things about it that make it very watchable.

Because the CWS has a week left and at this stage it’s projected to have similar or lower ratings.

I’ll apologiz next week if fans actually give a damn about Michigan vs Vandy (they won’t).

Obviously, you have only been a fan of spring sports since Bama had one good season a few years ago. Reality is softball has been catching baseball since 2010 when the NCAA killed the bats. Baseball is just now recovering, and will probably never be at the interest level it was pre dead era.
