SEC will be a 3 horse race between Bama, UGA, and LSU.

A&M & UF are going to play the role of spoiler. Both will be good enough to pull an upset any given week, but wont be good enough to win their divisions. I predict A&M is going to royally piss off one of the 3 front runners this year by knocking them out of the picture.

I’m not hyping him up? All I said was the type of offense he was going to run. I don’t have high expectations of QB play this year, the saving grace is that he won’t be asked to do a lot.

That means other teams will beat Auburn since the quarterback is the key to do the job on offense. It he is going to be limited then Auburn can forget a chance to compete for the division or have a great year.

Nick Marshall didn’t “know” the playbook until Week 10. He ran the read option and managed the game.

With a Top 10 defense, weapons all over the offense and a strong run game Auburn doesn’t need huge QB play. Auburn made the Sugar Bowl with horrible QB play and won an SEC Championship with an Athletic QB.

A&M dark horse with Mond. The jump he made from year 1 to year 2 with Jimbo was very good. West is more brutal than ever. Usually outside of bama one of the 3 either LSU AU or A&M are down. Not this year. Imo. A&M lost some but are loaded at wr and have Mond. Similar to D Watson just always making clutch plays.

Okay so if LSU or Burn slip by them in the regular season

Then UF doesn't have to beat Bama in the title game. So how does that logic work? You are claiming Auburn or LSU could win the West. If they do, then Florida would play Auburn or LSU, not Bama
Don't take it personal

Florida may well win the national title, I don't have a crystal ball and thus can't tell you for sure.

But I think the general consensus is that LSU beats Fla at home, and that game seems to knock the loser out of Atlanta (was the case even when both were national contenders). It also appears that despite Alabama being the overall favorite, Georgia is the bigger favorite to win their division.

I think there's some interesting hedging going on in the West- sure, you have Alabama. But LSU appears to be building upwards again, and Auburn is fascinating because they play Alabama as tough as anyone, despite records. And A&M might be the wildcard- Bama plays them at College Station, and LSU gets them at home. Just like the LSU game last year was kinda a 'must win' for Jimbo, I think the Bama game might be circled this season.

I hope you turds are happy. I used up so much of Chickens's cloud storage bookmarking, he locked me out and made me buy a premium membership to keep'em all from being dumped... Hell, you buttsniffers aren't even whole turds.. half turds at best.

The Noods are nice though, should've done this year's ago.

winning the SEC
No longer a big deal. Bama has proven it is not necessary to get to the National Championship. Just have to look good and stay within the grip (golf term) in the end.

Also why do people think Georgia is more talented than Alabama?

I have no idea. Alabama is still king of the talent pool. At LEAST for another year or two.

On offense, Alabama is much more talented.

I wouldn't say much more talented. Alabama has the edge at QB, probably. OLine goes to Georgia. RB's could go to either or considered even.....but Alabama pulls away easily at WR. Mainly because our WRs are young...but they are talented. However, Alabama's WR corps is off the chain good. They are in another world and that gives Alabama the nod....but I wouldn't use the word "much".

You realize that Florida has done all of those things, too, don't you? I mean it hasn't been that long ago that Florida was dominating the SEC.

That is the worst Bama D since 2007.

Having said that, Marshall was a very good college QB and perfect for Gus's system.

My thoughts:

1. There are 4 good teams in the SEC west. Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M. In recent memory, the only teams that have beaten Alabama have been teams with great QB play. Auburn does not have an experienced QB, and they draw Florida AND Georgia from the east, so it's just not their year. That leaves TAMU, LSU, and Alabama. LSU has to go to Alabama, and they haven't beaten them in 8 years. I don't see it starting now. TAMU maybe has a shot at an upset at home. They do have a mobile QB, and if his passing has improved that is the type of player that has burned Alabama in the past. But they have to play @ UGA, and @ LSU, so I just don't think they'd win enough games to overcome Alabama even if they do upset them.

So LSU has the more manageable schedule of the 4 SEC west teams, and really it will just come down to whether or not they can protect home field, beat the teams they are supposed to, and find a way to kick the Alabama curse.

I would say the SEC west winner breaks down like this:

Alabama - 90%
LSU - 7.5%
TAMU - 2.5%

2. The SEC east is actually way more wide open, IMO. Georgia seems like the clear favorite, but they have to play both AU and TAMU from the SEC west. On the other hand, a team like Missouri only draws Ole Miss and Arkansas, and gets Florida, probably the #2 or #3 team in the division, at home. Their big hurdle is one huge road game, similar to LSU. If they take care of business and win that one road game, they probably go to Atlanta. I think Florida is a more talented team than Missouri, but they get LSU on the road, and AU comes to UF, and they have to travel to Missouri late in the year, and have to go to Kentucky, a team that physically destroyed them last year. Way more stumbling blocks on that schedule IMO.

So I would say the SEC east is more like

Georgia - 80%
Missouri - 11%
Florida - 9%

So there are probably 6 teams with a realistic shot at winning divisions assuming all teams stay relatively healthy.

In 2010 Bama stuffed CN in the running game. AU got many bizarre breaks in that game. CN made some good clutch throws, but that was it. AU had a little over 300 yards.

In 2013 - another bizarre game where strange breaks went in AU's favor.

Since Saban got it going in 2008, Bama has won 8 of 11, including 3 of 5 in J-H despite the breaks.

Last year Bama put up 52 on that "great" D without breaking a sweat.

Great post Jim dog.
Gonna be some great parity in the conference this year. Each week is a new season. Each game is crucial for each team.
Let's roll people!

Explain to me how Sean White wasn’t a bad QB and how Nick Marshall was more than an athlete playing QB. The dude made an NFL roster as a ST and DB.
