But if Smart got paid does that make him an employee. Hows the retirement plan? Does it include a pension?

That's actually a safe move, IMO. The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power. Deny, deny, deny.
Random wiretaps of a random set of conversations is the only reason Will Wade is even being looked at. The NCAA is toothless and have been exposed. Nobody will ever willingly cooperate or offer them information on a major infraction ever again, IMO.

I opened my phone after I landed this morning to find multiple people, including an entire thread started, to demand that I update the OP's title, even though there was nothing in the OP that even mentioned Smart being held out.

I believe most of that is embezzlement, but the NCAA and LSU are looking into them employing a family member. That will probably amount to reeducation of rules
