Najee Harris.

DeVonta Smith and Jalen Waddle 4*

Mac Jones and John Metchie 3*

Slade Bolden 3*

Miller Forrestall 3*

Take notes UGA fans, Stars aren’t everything and doesn’t mean someone is automatically a great player

But that line tho. You can win with 3* skill guys. Not 3* linemen.

This. Just ask Georgia.

Also no way Metchie was only a three star, I refuse to believe that.

He wasn't, he was a 4-star. But he was a borderline 4-star (#275 overall).

Penn State folks made it abundantly clear that they didn't think he was a P5 player when we signed him.

Just goes to show you that recruiting rankings matter but they are not everything. Your higher 4* athletes are not chopped liver and those 3* grow up sometimes.

I think Coaches see a player for what they think he can become and recruiting rankings are based one what they did in High School.

There are lots of variables. Here's one: A 17 year old senior is a lot different than a 19 year old senior in his physical development and yet they are rated using the same criteria.

Were any of LSUs guys last year 5 stars? Someone mentioned on here that LSUs offense this year was more talented according to recruiting rankings

I used to think this before I saw an article about the 2017 Pro Bowl.

Out of 15 linemen, 0 were rated as a 5* in college and only 4 were 4*.....the average rating was 2.4*. O-linemen might be the toughest position to assign a star ranking to.

The overall idea is correct though. Give me mediocre skill guys with a dominant Oline over great skill players behind a bad line any day.

Yeah, I think people look at the recruiting rankings a little wrong.

When I see a 5 star ranking, it should mean it's a player who is basically ready to go now physically and somewhat mentally.

But that doesn't mean a 3 or 4 star player is worse. These are 17 and 18 year old kids, most of them are still growing. They just take a little more time to develop. I didn't reach my full height until after I was 20 years old etc. A few years of growth and development and those 3 stars would easily be rated 4 or 5 stars if they were still coming out of high school.

Also, five star position players are extremely rare. There are about only ten of them in a given year. Add in the fact that Bama's offense was loaded with incredible underclassmen at QB, WR, and RB the last few years who would be blocking top recruits from playing time and it shouldn't be much of a surprise that Bama doesn't have that many five star skill position players starting on offense.

Tbf, I had another Dawg fan try telling me Mathis was going to be a great player bc he was a 4 Star lol. The star rating is absolutely overhyped by our fan base

It’s cool to be excited and Happy about getting 5* but UGA fans love to speak in absolutes about a player Stepping right in and being successful before he even takes 1 snap in CFB all because he was a 5*

This. Our offensive line is what truly makes our offense work and those players were rated as follows:

Alex Leatherwood (LT) - 5*
Deonte Brown (LG) - 4*
Landon Dickerson (C) - 4*
Emil Ekiyor (RG) - 4*
Evan Neal (RT) - 5*

The two best players on UGA's defense, Jordan Davis and Eric Stokes, are both 3 stars. No need to tell us UGA fans something we already know.

I am seeing him as a 4* .9043 on the composite. Maybe he is doing the reverse what everybody else does? most people search for the highest ranking among the services to proclaim their guy the best....he is searching for the lowest ratings among the services to proclaim Alabama does the mostest with the leastest.
