I dont think a Mullen offense has beaten a kirby defense since kirby smart's first year as a DC (2008).
That must create a lot of mental duress for Mullen that explains a lot of his insecurities. Losing 10 in a row like that. Talk about a mindfrick.
Edit to add: mullen has scored more than 17 against Kirby only 2 times ever. 31 points in 2008 (SECCG uf vs bama) for kirbys 1st year as DC and 20 points in 2014 (miss st vs bama).
In those 11 matchups, Merlin the offensive genius is averaging 11.6 ppg against Kirby the defensive minded coach.
That is impressive for an offensive genius. That's way more than 1 TD per game. It is super close to 1 TD per half.

2008 UF put up 31 on Bama
2014 Miss St put up 20 on Bama.
The only time Mullen's offense beat Kirby's defense was 2008.
