My best friend went when we lived on Patch. He met Jim Calhoun while he was there.
ETA: But sadly, no. I will not be there. I'm stuck in CONUS.

I thought about flying DFW to Frankfurt and renting a car. But I have other plans this weekend. (I'm being serious).

Just wondering, if I had done this, would I have been allowed on the base to watch the game?

The problem would be getting the ticket, since the distribution is limited to DoD -- not admission. A civilian can use a ticket but they won't be able to legally buy one. Obviously, seating would be limited.

As far as getting on base, outside special security circumstances (exercise, for instance) getting on base for civilians is fairly straightforward -- an acceptable ID (e.g. passport) a legitimate purpose, a decent attitude and being prepared for the possibility of search.
Usually these games enforce a specific dress code as well.

I'm curious how it would go down. If I just showed up and said, "Hey, I'm a fan of the team and came across the ocean. Can I go to the game?". What would they even say? I'd imagine someone at the gate would try and make it happen for me if it was in their power.

Most likely response I would expect would be an explanation of the very limited seating. OTOH, they might have some unused will call or personal tix.

The better bet would be to show up a few days early, find the popular airman/army bar, buy some drinks and make friends. The tickets are free but limited.

We're 7 point underdogs and will be without 2 starters tonight including our projected lottery pick. We're not supposed to stand a chance so will this could be a huge resume boost, but ultimately won't be held against us.

If you are a DOD card holder and had a ticket you would have. Tickets aren’t too hard to get. They were giving hem out various places on base.

A few of the Aggies in this thread are too uptight.

I’ve been out of the country for 5 years and haven’t seen high level basketball like this in a while. I’m excited to go.

Too bad the a few guys are out. Them playing would only make it a better game.

Lightbulb I doubt they’d let us take signs in, but if I had planned ahead more, I could have made a TogerDroppings sign.

The OP may have one of the biggest misfires in Rant history if this lead holds.

Bread, how do they look in person?

Seems like a fun atmosphere. Pro Aggie?
