This may have been covered already, but are there only a limited number of students that can get into the game? Or do all these people have tickets, but are just waiting in line to get better seats?
B/c if it's the latter, that's pretty stupid imo.

It is 50/50, they could have already bought "tickets" in which case they "have" them on their student IDs. Then there is a limited amount of seats for Students and it is first come first serve with not overflow since the game has been sold out for a while now.

quote:They sell 9000 student access passes that get you into all the athletic events, guaranteed (with the exception of basketball, that's first come first serve to the first 2500-3000 with passes). They sell the rest of the tickets on a first come first serve basis, but you buy those during the week before the game. Any unsold student tickets can be bought by the public for a discounted price, but that won't be an issue for this game.

Basically, these guys are camping out for the best seats. There are two student sections, one of which is in the lower deck next to the band, and then one which is in the upper deck in the south endzone. In the upper deck, there is pretty limited permanent seating, with most of the seats being in temporary bleachers. The problem with these seats is that they are set back a bit from the permanent seating, and they aren't as steep, so the south redzone is actually blocked by the lower seats. You can see the whole game on the jumbotron but you can't see some of the plays directly, so there is incentive to avoid getting stuck in those seats.
The atmosphere in the lower deck is much better than in the upper deck. The lower deck student section is rocking all game and everyone who sits down there knows all the cheers and traditions, and they're much louder. The people in the upper deck are generally quieter and more laid back, in large part because when you sit up there, you feel disconnected from the rest of the stadium. However, it's my favorite place to sit because you get a great view of the field and you can see each play develop and each gap in the line, so if you like to see exactly what's going on in each play, then it's a perfect place to sit.

Oh yeah, and these campers have basically eaten for free all week. Fans, restaurants, and university bigshots have been dropping off food and drinks for them since Sunday or Monday when they started camping out.

OK, I know we're the enemy this week, but I think this camping out thing is just the neatest thing ever. Can you imagine what fun those kids are having this week? The community, university and everyone is getting involved and supporting them, and sending food. When I was 20 yrs old, I would have jumped at the chance to do something like this. I hope no one expected them to get any studying done this week. This looks like more fun than Spring Break. Normally, I would wish a team with this much spirit luck, but can't do it this week. I want Bama to win, and if people think we're not worried, I'd just have to ask "Who have you talked to?". I hope it's a clean game, that the refs are fair, and no major injuries on either side.

I think this is cool as hell, but what are they going to do with their tents and stuff when the gates open? Just leave them there until after the game?

They have to clear the tents out by 8:30 am on Saturday, so I'm assuming that they have all arranged for at least one person to stay in line and someone else to take the tent home, then come back and get their spot in line.

Someone point the kid in the wheelchair towards the camera...everyone looking at the camera and he's stuck looking off 45 degrees to the right. Inconsiderate jackoffs.

Someone was kind enough to point him in the direction of that girl's rack.

Follow his eyes....I don't think he wants to be pointed straight ahead.
