Arkansas is expected to hire Deke Adams as defensive line coach, sources tell @on3sports. Adams, who worked at FIU last year, is an SEC veteran who has worked at Ole Miss, Mississippi State and South Carolina. Coached Jadaveon Clowney at South Carolina.

Pretty shocking considering everyone was pointing towards Jeremy Hawkins.

He was very lazy on the recruiting front while at Ole Miss.

Same at SC. He coached Clowney his final year at SC. Look at the fall off in his #'s.
Not a good hire piggies.

He won't last more than one season then and we'll be in the same boat this time next year.

Just hope for the best and pray it isn't the worst.

He can't be any worse than Ashley in all honesty.

Deke Adams was horrible at South Carolina. Here is a small sample of him getting into it with another coach (Kirk Botkin) on the sideline against Georgia. Both were shitty coaches.

Let me add a note. Clowney got worse under him, and he was the catalyst for our Dline going downhill. Brad Lawing built it up, built Devon Taylor, Melvin Ingram, Clowney etc. Deke came in and we went downhill

rolls eyes, former sec teams saying an Arkansas hire is a bad hire.
Pray for the best!

totally get why you would say that, but from our perspective its a bad hire only because he was bad here. doesnt mean it wont work out for yall

I dunno about this guy. Hope it works out for ya but I liked your CB coach hire a lot more.

Meh, we have had four coaches in four years on the d line. May have to try this again next year lol

Which is what I expect to happen if this hire is true...

We fired our DB coach who got into fights on the sideline. DL coach is a better fit for leader of sideline fight club anyway. Welcome coach Adams! Punch Briles when he calls a WR pass.

If he did that, MF would be out here looking like E. Honda.

DLINE coaches are the most overrated position coach in the game. The players are what they are and the S&C coach is what makes the player.

I sort of agree, but if he is a lazy recruiter then that won't work here and he won't last more than a year.
In the end, this was a budget hire, just like every other hire outside the coordinators has been. Our admin wouldn't up the coaching pool too much so Pitt was left with scraps.

If you are correct in that, Mizzou is screwed, we have 2 DL coaches.
With this hire, and him not a top notch recruiter, are you targeting other transfers, or going with what is currently on roster?

He was fired at ole miss after a year. He had the worst DL in D1 football while at ole miss. Made significant improvements after he left
