on TV this weekend? Next weekend, it's LSU's turn. Have to subscribe to ESPN + / SEC Network + to view. No more SEC Alt channel for games. You have to pay a monthly fee. You can also dish out like $67 for a yearly subscription. Looks like basketball is going to be this way, too.

Won’t be watching any of those games. Kind of like the old Tigervision games against crap opponents.

The new deal we signed allows ESPN to put 1 OOC football game and 2 OOC basketball games on ESPN+ each year. Teams also get to dictate what time they play if they're on ESPN+. I've had ESPN+ for awhile now due to their golf coverage, but if that's too steep a price for a football game, I'm pretty sure you could sign up for a free trial and then cancel after the game

Huge step backwards. I thought that part of the purpose of the SEC Network (and the associated alternate channels) was to not have games be televised through pay-per-view.

Between SEC/ESPN+, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, etc. it is becoming nearly as expensive to stream anything you want as it was to have cable in the first place.

Agree. I mean I'm going to pay it, you are too, probably, but you're right, when does it end?

Hell, during early season basketball, they make some games streaming-only while the SECN Alternate channels are readily available. Which would be fine if the stream itself didnt suck. Gotta love intentionally making your product worse and less accessible. And now theyre gonna charge you for it

To watch a team of swamp rats led by an illiterate cavemen win 8 games per season and beat their chests, proclaiming "next year is the year" Oh wait, that was under Les Miles. Surely, it wouldn't be different under their current coach, fred flintstone...

You're a fricking idiot. That caveman put together the best season in CFB history and beat the shite out of everyone on the schedule. He's also averaging 10 wins a season even with a bad season during the shortened covid year. fricking retard

this was inevitable when people stated cutting the cord from cable companies.

ESPN+ will have the right to stream one nonconference football game and two nonconference men's basketball games per SEC school each season. All told, ESPN+ will carry up to 14 nonconference football games and up to 20 nonconference men's basketball games annually.

Sankey said schools will be allowed to set kickoff times for games shown exclusively on ESPN+.

You also have to consider that ABC wil also be airing an afternoon game and a primetime game every week in addition to games on ESPN/ESPN2/SECN/ESPNU. There's only so many channels and alt-channels ESPN has. Them broadcasting an SEC team playing a nobody is still way better than paying $50 on PPV or not seeing the game at all (even some conference games) like it was before the SECN
