11.9 Million to Bret.
Paid 2 Million to SMU for Morris and now 10 million more for Morris...
What are you going to pay a new coach?

We're not. We're shutting down the football program and bringing an MLS team to NWA.

I remember reading about them cutting Bert off. Wonder if the next guy can get a little more irocnclad wording in his contract for when he inevitably gets fired

It’s so cute when people have no idea what they are talking about

Have you ever seen a more fricked up situation in your life?
Ole Miss and Ms St are next

He’s a professional at that, I won’t go into details why but he’s definitely either a classless attention whore, mentally challenged or both.

Well... explain it. We are all ears

Bielema’s buyout contained a clause where he had to be seeking a college head coaching job. When he took the full time gig with the Patriots, the Hogs stopped paying him. That’s according to Arkansas anyway.

They can pay for any coach in America.
Jerry Jones. You know billionaire and former national champion Razorback OL grandfather to Arkansas’ current starting QB?
I am quite sure Jerry alone could pay Morris and pay for a new coach at whatever salary.
I won’t even get into the other billionaire/Fortune 500 companies/business people that went or are from Arkansas

Still waiting for an explanation other than "we've got rich alums". Um....every school has very rich people that can step in and give millions to help correct mistakes. Arkansas is just having to do more often.
The Arkansas athletic department is probably the 7th or 8th wealthiest in the SEC. Maybe top 15 nationally. Every school can do what Arkansas is about to do, but it severely hampers the financial stability of an institution to have to do it.

11.9 million to Bret.Paid 2 million to SMU. Now, 10 million more for Morris. Add to that the cost, in millions, for a new HC and his staff. At best, 2 yrs to get back to being average. A minimum of 28 million to be average?

Aside from Wal-Mart and Tyson, One thing overlooked is Wal-Mart HQ is in Fayetteville. They require businesses that want to do business with Wal-Mart to have a local office near Wal-Mart HQ.
We can peg a lot of businesses to donate that don't even have anything to do with Arkansas other than Wal-Mart.

In all honesty, how do they know he isnt looking for a college HC gig? Just bc he took another job doesnt mean he isnt still looking.

OK.
Once more from the top for those of us out there who are a bit slow on the uptake.
We fired Bert. Bert was supposed to try and find a job of equal stature as per the terms of his contract. Take a breath. I know. That is a lot to take in. You can do it.
Bert made no effort to find that job. Not even a half assed effort. And Bert has a lot of arse to go around. Finally he takes a D-Line coaching job in the NFL way below market value.
So given that he failed to honor his terms of the contract we told him to take a flying leap. Now I know this hard for you to follow. Bert did not fulfill his end of the bargain... even though it was easy to do so. Therefore he gets diddly.
You can do it. I have faith in you. You can figure this out.
Bert gets diddly. If he had made a vague attempt at finding a decent job we'd still be paying him.
You can figure this out and understand it. I have faith in you. It might take you a few days of rumination and you might have to lay off the booze for a while but you can do it.

He is also working for way less pay than league average for his position.

That will go to court. Ark will lose. He is allowed to make 50K.. He is. More on Ark situation:

His Arkansas contract, approved by former athletic director Jeff Long, even allowed Bielema to make $50,000 a year and it not count against his monthly payments from his buyout.
From the sound of this article.... The money has dried up:
quote:
More than $1 million worth of tickets are going unsold each game, partly because of the product on the field. Donors also no longer receive tax deductions, making it harder and harder to raise money. Not to mention the debt service on the bonds that were purchased to add 3,200 seats at Reynolds Razorback Stadium at a cost of $159 million. As former UA board of trustees member David Pryor said, nothing in that addition was for the students.
